The R4DS cartridges in shops are fake and absoloutely terrible

 

mine is a real R4 and i've only had to patch one game.... the rest i had to use cheats on.... but it worked

 

I know tha nxpgame.com has sold the real r4 cards in just the past few months. 5 cards purchased 300 games downloaded and no problems yet. I've always gotten the sandisk card instead of the kingston just because the first one worked and I don't mess with a good thing. They aren't the cheapest site but $20 for the bundle plus shipping is a great deal to me for quality. They used to be on r4ds.com's site as a link. I also have an email from them affirming they have the real cards or money back. You could always ask for that guarantee before puchase.

well they keep dropping in price. 3 months ago mine was $10.... did you buy yours back when the R4 team was still around?

Can someone tell me what are good sites to buy Edge, Acekard 2, and CycloDS and also tell me which ones are better than the other(list them from best to worst)? Also, with these, could I play gba roms on my DS? Thank you.

Actually, nevermind. I just noticed there is a sticky thread that answers most of my questions.

 

1- R4DS is not sold anymore
2- The Edge and Acekard 2 are rather cheap ranging between $15 to $30 The CycloDS is more expensive but it is excellant in comparison
3- DS flashcarts DO NOT play GBA games, I can't stress this more, however you can get a GBA flashcart such as the EFA linker

 

With a GBA flashcart could I play GBA roms on my DS?

One more question. How do you apply a translation patch to a NDS rom? I downloaded the patch but I don't see an option to apply it. There is no Open With option either and when I try to open it I get this message: The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application.

I bought mine around Christmas, it was $20 with a 2GB SD card, So I guess that averages out to about $10 for the R4, nd $10 for the SD
