Hi, I wonder if anyone can help. Whilst abroad 18 months ago, I purchased my son a DS and a 79-in-1 game card . All I got is the card itself which is 'sealed' and does not obviously contain an SD or SDHC flash card like some of DS flash cards do. On doing a bit of research I think its a DS Fire Card (based on the fact that the boot loader says something like DS Firewire or something like that. Our friend google told me it was a Fire Card ) Of the 79 games, he probably plays around 5 of them! What I was looking to do was to delete the 74 rubbish ones and perhaps refresh it with some newer titles. Again, google tells me that the Fire Card comes with a handy slot 2 device and USB cable for doing just this - but of course, I didn't get that when I brought it! So, does anyone know where I can purchase this from? even if it means buying a whole new kit complete with card? I have toyed with the idea of simply buying a new card - whatever the consensus tells me the best is - and reloading it as required. But in doing that presumably I will lose all his saved games etc (as they are stored on the card??) ... and he is doing so well at Mario Kart at the moment ;D Thanks for any help; JD
...must be a card I never heard of. Here is my advice-look fo the acekard 2.i. www.acekard.com ^^^product info It does the same thing, but you'll need to manually add in the games and firmware, we can help you out, it's a simple process. It also does slot 2 linkage-and while doing this (with the ezy 3 in 1 expansion card) it can do gba games. You will also need to buy a micro sd card as well as well as an adaptor to do all the firmware and game installs-they aren't expensive-around here I can pick up a 2gb with adaptor (full sized SD adaptor-my laptop is blessed with a card reader ) for $20aud. Or 8GB for $50 As for the saves, it depends, you MIGHT be able to import them to the acekard, depending on what the save extensions and wether or not the acekard can pick them up or not. ...but you lack the stuff to move the files....so, I hope your son is patient and willing to do it all over again... My brother, 13, nearly strangled me when an experiment on our acekard lost all save data He beat them again, quicker than before...he just wasn't happy... I hoped I helped-btw you will need to shop online-I use ebay
Its a NAND card clone - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_DS_storage_devices#N-Card_.28NAND_Card.29 and here are some examples of some online retailers who have no stock!: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3315 http://www.consoleplus.co.uk/product_info.php?pName=ds-fire-link-slot-1-for-ds-and-ds-lite-8gbit http://sydneygadgets.com.au/products.html And lastly, here is a youtube video showing someone using one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpJ3fyHxV38 Ideally I'd really like to be able to just buy a new one from somewhere like the above, but seeing as everyone has no stock I'm guessing its now an old/obsolute product? Cheers JD Post Merge: [time]1254776828[/time] I might have just found one: http://www.wiisingonline.com/productsview.php?proid=77&id=86&type=products I've taken the risk and ordered - lets hope I've not just wasted about £25 !
Yes, flashcarts with built-in NAND aren't very preferable, as you can't expand the memory. It's more common to buy devices that use MicroSD for storage.
i have a ds fire card and if you want to keep the games you could just buy the whole thing and use the slot 2 game with the game you have already got and get rid of the other game or keep it incase anything happens
