China is fast becoming the workshop of the world. Now everything surrounds us could be made in China, the truth that the chinese try everything to cut
the price down is good or bad for you ? Just post here..

Great for those who are paying for China-made items (except if they're contaminated, coughcough), not so great for the workers themselves.

I could elaborate but I haven't done a lot of research into globalisation, so...

in the short term it is bad for the chinese people, because the governent has policies that allow poor work conditions and low minimum wages. in the long term those policies will make the country relatively more and more wealthy. in countries like america were people want good pay and easy work, it will eventually backfire and they will be overtaken by harder working countries.

doesnt bother me like it does some people...especially since to get the same piece of crap made in america would cost you about 80% more.. as long as its not a "tool" i.e screwdriver, wrench, hammer.. ill buy it and wont think twice about whether it came from china or not...

On an individual level, sure, it's probably terrible for the workers. On a national level, China's economy is exploding (in a good way). Expanding economies mean more employment opportunities, which leads to a higher quality of life (if not working conditions).

Furthermore, the way they're importing more and more raw materials is also good for the economies of their trading partners. I don't know which countries trade with China, but if the Chinese government is smart (which they are, kinda) they'd import from second- or third-world countries for cheaper resources. The end result of this will lead to a balancing of global economies in conjunction with a narrowing of the technological gap between first-world countries and the rest of the world.

Globalisation isn't exactly the concept in question, by the way.

...I do hope they (the workers) get more money, and the companies are expanding...

Just...don't let them come to my door stop (the products)...

Too many chinese products have failed my expectations, I'm now paying top dollar for higher quality goods that do the exact same thing, they only last longer...

Don't mind me, being a tight arse for so long has made me buy all these...things that...break...

I dont really care, it doesn't affect me.
theres less jobs in the uk because its cheaper to import from china but thats unavoidable with our government. if it wasn't china it would be someone else.
i couldn't care less about poor working condititions either, do something about it, if they all went on strike it would cost the country billions and countries would start looking elsewhere for products, it wouldn't be long before they gave in.
its not my country, i dont want/need anything from them and i have no intention of ever going there.
i get cheaper products so i suppose i like it.

What is in China that its producing more cheaper and bulk products? I do not believe its the large labor force cause many countries now with large populations are suffering lost of jobs. Is it the system of government?

its the large workforce combined with a lack of laws to protect workers. theres no minimum wage that im aware of, no health and safety laws, no unions etc.

Its always good for the consumers cause its cheap. Its the durability that is the problem, but if you're like me that treats China made product like its a branded one, then durability is up to you. For the workers in the factories, i know they dont have most of the benefits of factory workers in other countries but its better to have a job than you dont. A paycheck is only given if you have work, so if its below minimum wage, its still good as long as you receive it than nothing.

They dont have force labor anymore, right?

Damn human right activist, if we use forced labor on our agriculture and factories, we could be a world power...or at least stop hunger and poverty.

or our government could just realise its cheaper to import but everyone that lost their jobs because of it are now claiming jobseekers and housing benefits so any saved money is going straight back out again.

People lose jobs in the US when they used to manufacture/assemble stuff such as PCs and Cars. Now, they are
    jobless.

I think it is a bad thing. The more we import the less we need to manufacture here thus creating job shortages. The U.S. needs to return to the policy of isolationism at least for a while.

To be frank, what a horrible idea.

Also, my opinion is that items are made in China.

But paradoxically those same jobless people have to rely on Chinese products since they can't afford anything more expensive...

Also lol at isolationism. That means we wouldn't be able to export anything either, right? I wonder how Cuba is doing.

but governments need to realise the money saved on importing chinese products isn't saved because it goes to the jobless on benefits.
wouldn't it be better to produce our own things and have less unemployment?
when i was unemployed i got almost £200 a week in benefits, no chinese slave earns that much
