    I am on 5.50 Gen-D I think. I haven't updated for a while.

There are CFW for 6.35 and 6.37, but both are still unstable compared to what you're using now.

If you have a PSP 1000 or hackable 2000, I greatly recommend 5.00m33-6. It's the best most stable firmware out there.

The safest update(most stable) for you at the moment would be 5.50 PROMETHEUS.

Whatever you choose, 5.00m33, 5.50 Gen, be sure to get Prometheus-4. It fixes games like Monster Hunter 3.

    *brief thread-jack*

I plan to put mine on 5.00m33 when I get it. if I install prom-4 can I play all of the newer games up to OFW-6.37 required games without disecting the ISOs and patching the eboots? Also, if I'm running Prom-4, can I still launch the ISOs directly from the memory stick, or do I need to use a special loader? Thanks.

5.00m33-6 is awesome. I'm running it right now, every ISO/CSO works with it, even the ones that just came out. You don't need to patch files, use loader, etc. You run games right off your memory stick.

    Allright, cool thanks.

One more question. Using a pandora and updating/downgrading to an exploitable firmware (5.03), can I install 5.00 m33-6-prom-4 right from there or do I need to install a certain type of 5.00 m33 and do a series of updates from whatever one uses the exploit to m33-6 to m33-6prom-4? Thanks again.

I think you do, since 5.50 is higher than 5.03. I personally have no experience since I have a 3000 running 6.20 TN-D.

i'd stick with 5.50 gen prome 4 mate. its better than 5.00 m33 6 or whatever. one major difference is the the way the games look. graphics look a bit better on the one i mentioned, i noticed it myself when switching.

    uh...wat.

5.00 m33-6 has an extra compatibility layer for homebrew that 5.50 does not, and I don't really think graphics in a game will change because of system firmware. Brighter, maybe, better, no.

Still all opinions are appreciated. I'm just trying to figure out how many CFWs I'll need to go through to get to the one I want.

I'll also install popsloader of course.

Just be sure to get a PSP 1000 or a hackable 2000. I used this video to get 5.00m33-6 on my hackable 2000 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipVkKmW7x7s

I'm not exactly sure how to use a Pandora battery, but this worked perfect for me.

Hmm, OK, I've already planned on getting a star wars 2000 (the only Limited Edition 2000 series known to make pandoras just in case). Well, it's not like I need the pandora for the hack itself, anyway. Nowadays, pandora is simply the "unbricking" battery, but damn necessary, useful and worth the six bucks.

How do you guys go about installing Prom-4? Is it the same as when installing the other CFWs? I'm using 5.50 Gen D3 and I heard that there's one prometheus version where the save files ended up being corrupted.

Most 2000s are hackable, I've got a Pandora battery myself, but I've never had the need to use it. There's some cheap memory sticks here if your interested.

I've got two of them and they work perfect, I've had them for about 5 months. Very cheap when you compare them to official name-brand memory sticks.

All you've gotta do is put the Prometheus-4 folder in your GAME folder and install it. Some people were saying they've had save corruption problems, but I've never had a problem. Just be sure to backup your saves before installing it. It isn't a CFW, just an add-on that fixes certain games.

The only problem is that (according to some reviews) they're not actually magicgate and are slower than sony sticks.

If you pirate PSP games, how are the load times off those cards, and can you compare em to that of a sony card? You really have to be careful when you buy something brandless.

And there are no problems whatsoever?
This also allows games to be played without the use of those extra plugins, am I correct?
I've been debating on whether to go ahead and install prom-4 ever since I heard of it.

Prom-4 is an unofficial release, which is meant for MHP3rd.
The save corruption may happen(for some games) if you update your current firmware to Prom-3, and if that happen, there's always ISO Tools.

The speed is faster than that of my official sony memory sticks, the games load faster and everything.

No problems whatsoever, Sony made it so certain newer games could only be played on newer official firmware, Prometheus allows those games to be played on most CFWs. I've had Prometheus-4 on my PSP for 5 months now and I've never had a save data corruption.

I can add Prom-4 right off the bat, right? I don't need to go through 1, 2, and 3?
