Preferably one that doesn't slow down my computer a lot.

I use AVG and find that the best. Stay away for anything Norton

Also avoid Avast!, it is unbelievably slow when scanning.

Ad-Aware is not an antivirus program...

norton's security or norton's internet security [i'm not sure which one it was but it was something with security] has a great suite for security [security for internet, spam [email and surfing], viruses, etc...] and will cost you $50 or less depending where you purchase the software [typically staples has them for $20-$40 depending on the season or year]. it's also rated the choice for pc magazine and pc world.

i don't know why norton is bad. can someone explain why?!

AVG and Kaspersky AV 6.0 are good choices...

I had Kaspersky and I noticed that it slowed down my computer a bit. It also wouldn't let me use Bitlord without closing Kaspersky otherwise my computer would freeze and I'd have to take the battery and power cord out.

Yeah don't try Kaspersky. I've heard some good things about NOD32 but I haven't used it.

i don't agree about kaspersky and avg. you can try avira for best scan and quick scan.

i advise you not to use any anti virus for they only slows down your pc...
i reccomend you to use deepfreeze... it is not an antivirus but it is better than any antivirus.
hope that you all know about it.

    oh by the way..
also loo out for an antivirus called virus heat
coz it is not actaually a real antivirus.. it forcively installs itself to your pc and shows messages that tells
your pc has been infected bye numerous adware, trojans, and spyware...
but the truth is those virus are from them so that you can buy license from them...

Yes I used to have VirusHeat. It installed on my computer and days later, I finally realized it was on my computer. Then I removed it.

kaspersky is second choice. avg is great because it's free and offers a modest performance.

well if you guys are willing to spend a lil money
microsoft windows live one care is pretty good
very easy to use and it helps you every step of the way to set it up
and its not too expensive and its alot less system demanding than norton
