This has always bugged me for as long as I can remember. Whatever happened to the first Seiken Densetsu or "mana" game? For those of you who may not know what I'm talking about, it's the Mana games, you know, Secret of Mana, Legend of Mana, Dawn of Mana etcetera. The North American SNES game Secret of Mana is often mistaken by many as the first ever Mana game there is, but if you look up it's Japanese title you get Seiken Densetsu 2... 2!? Then where the heck is the real first mana game? I type in Seiken Densetsu 1 on GameFAQs search bar & found no suitable matches so I decided to ask the source itself, Square Enix. Unfortunately, I can't find a "contact us" page or atleast an e-mail link for customer relations. There is a Customer service page on their main site but it focuses more on user help in regards to their current products or services. So, what the hell could have happened to the real first Mana game!?
All I can say Cahos is that Wiki it. You will find what you are looking for Apparently it was cancelled and was meant to be a floppy disk game. Then the official release was known as Final Fantasy Adventure on the Game Boy and is regarded as the first Seiken Denetsu game. The SNES Secret of Mana is indeed the second one in the series. And what an awesome series it is
Final Fantasy Adventure. I'm guessing they only named it that to milk the Final Fantasy name some more, but that game is essentially Seiken Densetsu 1. Sword of Mana for the GBA is supposed to be a remake of it but I didn't like that one nearly as much.
Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden(JP) = Final Fantasy Adventure(US)/Final Fantasy Mystic Quest(EU) Aparrently the game was scrapped in favour of creating Final Fantasy, and then released a few years later as a Final Fantasy "spinoff"...
Thanks guys, I've actually played & finished Final Fantasy Adventure on an old High school buddy's Gameboy back in the day & I did feel that it was kinda like a Mana game. The GBA Mana was supposed to be a revamp of it? Hmm I haven't played it yet so I guess I'll have to look into it.
