My current video card is a GeForce 6150SE nForce 430.
When I go to buy my new one In a month I need to know what I should buy that can run skyrim, l4d2, etc. Thats in a $20-75(US Currency).
All I need is to upgrade my card as my CPU and the rest is good enough.

you wont get much of an upgrade for $75, $150 would be a better budget.

you may need a new PSU, and also your processor is likely to struggle with newer games since its only 2.1Ghz and you have a horribly demanding OS.

Hmmm, what could I get with $125?
I could probably get more then what I have currently budgeted by the end of the month or so

No idea how much it is, but I bought an average Radeon card a few months ago. HD6950 2GB, price was pretty good.
Pretty impressed with this card, it's been able to take every recent game I've thrown at it on max settings.

I would prefer to get a Nvidia card so I wont have to change any Nvidia settings I have already TOO much but how much was that card?
    $80-ish?

That thing's like $300+ in my place, that right?

a 6950 isn't average, its not far off of top end, and in fact was top end when you bought it.

    a 5870 like I have is average.

nvidia cards cost more, but since you have a nvidia based motherboard you might be better off with one.

I think I bought mine for about ~$200 cos it was on sale.
You could go for PowerColor Radeon HD6750 DDR3 HDMI 1GB. It's going at $100. Not really sure if you can get a similar spec'd card at that price.

Loony: It was an average buy for me. Since I was waiting for the new GeForce and Radeon cards. Doesn't really matter which mobo you have either. I'm running on a 2500K fine with my graphics card.

The mobos only matter when you do that SLI and Crossfire setup I think.

    How about this one?

in theory you are correct. In practice, not always. my current ATI/AMD based motherboard doesnt seem to like nvidia cards.

Let's just get back to the topic at hand. Anyone else know of any other suggestions for the GPU?

As Loony have stated though, your current CPU (and thus mobo, which might also require you to get a new case too) won't really last long either.
I would rather save up to get a new system altogether, and I would get a medium to medium-high graphics card (they usually have the best performance/cost ratio).
A more powerful GPU (usually) means that it'll draw more power too, so you might need to think of the PSU as well.

Don't forget that some cases aren't designed for the larger GPUs these days, so make sure you do your homework before you buy.

this only applies to mid tower cases. Anything smaller definitely wont fit a full length GFX card, and a full tower case will take one without any trouble.

Yes, but we don't know what sort of case he has. I doubt he has a full tower case. Thanks for reinforcing my point though.

Hmm ill have to post a picture as i assume you mean how big the actual pc is
And I would prefer to stick with nvidia as I dont want any incompatibilities

That's totally your own decision. Just you giving my recommendation that I find Radeon cards give you the most bang for your buck.
