Huh! A lot new things I recommend ... -Improve task bar for multi-moniter -Possibly a faster and faster connection -The new IE 8 -Back up Xbox 360 games on Windows PC -Windows 'Gaming' mode -And a faster PC -A lot of Hard drive space -New- *WMP 12/Vienna *RP 12 *IE 8 *Gaming Experience -A better Windows than Vista....
I'm not a huge fan of windows "innovations", so... I'm not attacking you, vincent, I'm attacking vista and m$.
-Possibly a faster and faster connection -And a faster PC -A lot of Hard drive space ^^ These are totally unrelated to an OS. Just know that newer OS tend to take up more memory than the previous generation. So yeah. *WMP 12/Vienna *RP 12 *IE 8 ^^ These might come before or after the OS comes, no real relation. And RP? Who the fuck uses that shit, and how is it related to Microsoft's Windows?
It will focus on access & communication. You will probably be able to connect to your files from anywhere, just like google is currently doing with their Docs system. Also, it will be more modular. The single package deal with everything on it will disappear. People don't like that. Just my vision. Oh, and I hope they can do something about the desktop. Like, make it scrollable.
So far all it has from this list is IE8. It takes up 8GB of disk space before any programs are installed, compared to my Windows 2003 installation taking up 4.5GB including installed programs and updates.
Turn off your swap file (=2gb) and your hibernation mode (=2gb) and you'll lose half. Besides that Windows 7 uses hard links, which are like shortcuts, but not actually taking space. My disc currently occupies 7.88gb and I have 2.44gb of swap/hibernation still on. Ofcourse nothing installed yet. You do have a point that it is larger, as my bare Windows XP installation takes about 2gb.
multi desktop support would be awesome, I love the desktop cube on my linux box, windows would have to do something similar for me to come back.
They should make it backwards compatible with DOS apps. I don't have a problem with setting up DOSbox, but i just hate to install and set up everything again after i reinstall windowns. Another thing that would make the OS better, would be less usage of hardware resources. And third, the user interface (graphics, sliders, bars and such) should be customisable to your liking. I just don't like looking at the same old UI every time i turn on the PC. Something like StyleXP or WindowBlinds, just that it would be integrated in the system. You know, to make your PC more personal. That would be my New Windows wishlist
