what is this scientology that everyone is talking about???

what is scientology?? people seem to laugh when it's mentioned and they always mention tom cruise. what is wrong with it??

It's highly controversial due to its high profile 'members' like Tom Cruise and also the fact it hierarchy (and your position in it) is established by your monetary donations to the Church. Their beliefs are wacky to say the least, 'Lord Xenu' intergalactic ruler, spirits, see this video. To be honest I think it's one of the things the make me think "Thank fuck I don't live in America".

If I'm not mistaken, their doctrine says that we all are descendants from a race of space people, and one day, the big mother ship is gonna come and pick us up and take us home.

It seems to have a following, even in the Hollywood circle I think :x
