Having played both Uncharted 2 and Army of Two: The 40th Day, I've noticed that they play very similar. I first noticed this when firing the stock AK-47 and the M4 in Army of Two. They sounded and felt exactly like Uncharted 2's versions. Then I looked at the similarity between level designs, particularly the practically destroyed cities and I realized that it is almost the same game. When I finally got a gun in Army of Two, I didn't have to really learn the controls. I already knew them from Uncharted 2. I even found that the way they boost each other up (like up to the next floor or over a high ledge) in both games is similar. This one took a little longer for me to realize because I was too busy looking at Zoey's or Elena's ass...haha. The only difference I've really found is that one has some extremely frustrating platforming, and the other has local co-op. And each game focuses more on its primary genre, either adventure or shooter. Now my question is, what is the common denominator between these two games? I've looked up developers and publishers for both and they don't match. What else could it be?
They're buddy-buddy TPS' (you usually have more than one person at once) that's why the animations could be similar. Other than that, there's no connection between the games, even through studios. They're just games that look somewhat similar aesthetically. The real difference I noticed from the two is one is massively overrated and the other is incredibly mediocre and boring.
It felt like one developer just copy-pasted the two guns, gun sounds, gun recoil, and gun animations from the other. I just find it weird that two different groups ended up with the exact same product. At least with other FPS or TPS, they at least vary in those aspects.
