I'm a big SIMCity fan, ever since I saw the game being reviewed on a games review show on TV in the 90's I fell madly in love with its concept. The idea of building (actually planning out) a City was a novel idea at the time. Also, I am a huge LEGO fan & I used to dream of owning & building a whole town/city scape of LEGO playsets. But seeing as LEGO toys are very expensive, SIMCity was an alternative that I liked. I was able to play the first two games (SIMCity & SIMCity 2000) on the SNES & later 2000 on the PSOne. I was unable to play SIMCity 30000 as I only ever got to have my own PC on 2007 & by then 3000 was very difficult to find. I recently started playing SIMcity 4 & my love for the franchise still burns brightly With the release of it's spin off sequel SIMCity Societies, came several mixed emotions. I do like the idea of custom tailoring your city to whatever taste you wanted, in my case a Capitalist City that offers fun filled venues for its inhabitants. But the fact that you have at your disposal several hundreds of Building types to choose from as well as hundreds of decorative objects, the task of building your dream city has become a bit of a chore. Also, I can't enjoy the game's full graphics splendor as my system's not powerful enough to run the game at max settings as my Davey here has specs that are six (or more) years old Anyway, for those of you who are also SIMCity fans, or just happened to try this game out on a whim, what are your thoughts/opinions on it? And yes, this isn't the first time EA & Maxis did this approach for the SIMCity franchise. They first made something similar titled "SIMTown" & that too received mixed opinions from fans.
I used to play SIMcity for hours just so I watch it get wrecked by disasters, seems like I could set them off but I can't recall either way it was fun.
I still think the snes game is the best out the lot. the more options you have the less fun it becomes, like CRV says, it becomes a chore.
i never got into any of them since the first time i played one my i had a fire and couldnt figure out how to call the fire dept haha, i might have to check it out after reading this though
