Well as I can see, people are not probably loving the new games that are being released! :-\
Such as: Final fantasy, Pokemon, etc. As we can see the new platforms like NDS got new features that can be useful alot! But I can't really know why people are loving the old games.....is it because the new games are getting boring or is it because of the lack of exciting storylines?

Pokemon: I think i had read enough from people that each new game is bringing some new pokemons that are hard to get and its really hard to beat the whole game! Well i can't say that pokemon diamond/pearl are boring but the thing that I know that there are some pokemons which are only in japanese version.....is that right?
Some people are saying that the story of the game is not as cool or shocking as the old versions! :-\

Final Fantasy: Well I didn't try all the old versions of Final fantasy, but as we can see people don't like new versions of final fantasy, they prefer the old version.....I don't really know why! Is it the graphics, story or the many releases of FF??

Maybe developers are not not taking advantage of the Wi-fi feature because many games don't use the online multiplay !

I need your replies about all of my questions please and if there anything you want to add just add it so we can know more about NDS games.... ;D

    THANK YOU!! :p ;)

Eh, I think newer games are getting way to complicated and fancy. Back in the good ol' days entertainment was first, now it seems developers just want to make a game with good graphics for some profit. I'm not saying all new games are bad, some are very good. But now people just look for "the most powerful system" or the one that can "play HD and holds the most space". I say, screw graphics. Graphics never defined the greatness of a game, although it's not a bad thing, it's peoples priority nowadays. I won't buy a new gen console simply because it's not worth it anymore. I'll stick with my N64, PS1, Gamecube, and my all mighty and powerful SNES. Hell, I find a GBC more fun than playing some of today's games. That's MY opinion only so don't go starting something.

Agreed. Gaming has finally become a socially acceptable thing, it used to be viewed that gamers had no lives. Now, there is a more widespread appeal of games to other people too, and companies realize this and take advantage of it by spamming out games to make money. Making a game look pretty is an easy way to catch unknowing people off guard, if they're in a store and just look at the back of a box it will be more desirable than the possibly better game next to it with worse graphics. I'm not saying all companies take this approach, but it used to be that very few did, and the older systems while having less titles had more worthwhile games.

Final Fantasy steadily declines now due to how they like to approach their creation process, they like every game in the main series to be different from the last game and improve upon it. While that sounds good in theory, and worked very well for a while, it now falls into that category of trying to make things too complicated; for example the licenses in Final Fantasy XII, why should we have to take that time to learn to equip our equipment that we already had to buy or spend time finding/creating? Now I'm not calling these bad games by any means, I would still highly recommend any game in the main series to anyone, just that the earlier titles had a magic that's now missing due to overambition.

As for Pokemon, https://www.romulation.org/forum/index.php/topic,7200.0.html. And no, there are no Japanese exclusive Pokemon, there may have just been some really rare ones that you have to go to events to get that never had events outside of Japan.

depends on how the game itself is..

final fantasy and other "old" stuff you mention was "new" at some point..

    This is a tough one...
Well... My favourite game is TWEWY but usually I prefer the older games...
Pokemon games aren't as good but developers are running out of ideas as they make a new one at least once in every two years but the games are still quite fun. The thing is that older games are more original and the gameplay is usually still good but the newer ones offer more and can do more.
So my answer is both or neither as I base my opinion on the enjoyment from an individual game and not a group or genre...

I think the reason why people don't like pokemon is because they don't get to have all of the classic pokemon to start out with, (bulbasaur, charmander, squirtle)...and the fact that pokemon is out of their demographic.

instead of catching a pidgey and a pikachu, you end up with a starly and a shinx.
    bleh.

pokemon has stuck to the same formula pretty much throughout the series. the only differences are the characters, the pokemon, the map, and the cheesy team that you fight against from time to time.

pokemon has evolved ever since the invention of wifi trading and battling.

final fantasy however, has changed drastically over the years and for some, the change is not for the better.
i have played all of the final fantasies, besides 11, and i like most of them, except x-2 because their theme is just too girly for me.

the only reason i didn't appreciate FF6 as much as the FF6 aficionados was because they changed your main character a few times, pretty much leaving me out to dry without a solid main character all leveled up.

so yes, the old ones are usually the better made ones.

for some game developers, graphics is #1 on their priority list, not the story, gameplay or anything else for that matter.
graphics should be 3 or 4 on their list, while still keeping the nice graphics they have now.

i find myself playing older games a lot more then playing newer games even for pc. i downloaded kid icarus 4 weeks ago and kept playing it for 2 weeks and i keep coming back playing old nes classics like zelda and mario brothers 3 and world. the new games are okay. what i like are "quick" games like super mario brothers. you can quit and save your progress and pick up from where you left of, the pleasure is quick and cheap but does the job [for me at least]. i'm sort of tired playing games that drag on forever, typically rpg's, which is why the last one i played was tales of syphonia for gamecube. it was a great rpg with a great fighting system where it plays like a fighting game but the controls were easy to manage [doesn't control like a fighting game].

i love those hack and slash games that you find on ps2, oni musha series especially, which was probably why i'm okay with the soul calibur legends game for wii. the game is simple as you just walk around and kill every enemy you find. pick up points to upgrade your equipment and advance. the story is linear and the play is simple. i also like those dungeon crawler castlevania games. it plays like a hack and slash as all you're doing is walking around draculas castle and obtaining treasures and points to upgrade.

seriously, write a review about it since you have already played it.
I thought good RPGs were nonexistent on GCN.

Games these days are like junk food. They may wow you with stunning graphics, mind blowing sounds & fashionable gimmickry, like the wii remote, nunchuks or even the wii board. But in the end you still feel empty. Not unlike in the old days where only a handful of games sucked ass, "Door Door" anyone? ;D

The only useful thing that has been introduced for me is the connectivity factor. :)

I usually play older games, ahem, "classics", more these days but every so often a great new game comes out, which I just have to play.

Regarding Pokemon, they tried changing the formula with "Mystery Dungeon" for GBA and DS and "Ranger" for the DS and what happened? They were total flops. Then, they re-introduce the classic Pokemon gameplay with Diamond and Pearl, and lo and behold: they sell like hotcakes.

I like the older games better, they seem to have a better story to them. I like the graphics and visual stuff in new games but they just don't have any story to them.(well to me)

Older games are better (Pokemon also)

Only because the Nostalgia is memorable, and you can relate to it. Also, they have better story lines, now adays, it's all shock, no damage.

gears of war makes me beg to differ, they can still make great games if they tried.

the story lines back then we're epic, the plot twists nowadays seems weak and rushed, that's why most of the games today are acceptable at best and kind of forgettable. a tried and tested formula will still be an epic game, no need for innovations, it just needs to engage the player which games right now aren't really delivering

blame the huge publishers such as EA for modern games being rushed.
