What Firmware do I need? HELP PLEASE

What is the best firmware for my R4 with a DS Lite?
My R4 is a

"R4 REVOLOUTION FOR DS
NDSL / NDS"

I've tried to put wood on it 1.51 but it freezes on the loading screen...

 

What size microSD card are you using?

If you have the original R4 then the microSD card can be no larger than 2GB.

 

1gb

 

Format the microSD using the Panasonic SDFormatter, if that fails then try another microSD.

 

Is that the same if it's a sandisk card? I also have a 2gb samsung card

 

Use the Samsung card to see if you get the same result.

 

I eep getting the problem where when I try to copy the files to the card, the card disconnects, as if its been unplugged and then re-apperas straight away, but obviously interrups the copying

is this a problem with my card reader?

Also what firmware should I use on this card?

 

The latest firmware for the original R4 was 1.18, but you should be able to use Wood 1.53 if you have the correct R4.

EDIT: you may have a problem with your card reader after re-reading your last post.

Which is the best firmware? in your opinion, I will try both when new card reader comes x (plan on using the 2gb samsung if I can as allows more space for games) x

I have a R4 Revolution for DS (NDSL/NDS) and a 2GB microSD chip samsung .

And works fine using WoodR4 v1.53 + YSMenu when I like to switch.

Are you sure you have the R4 original and not R4 SDHC revolution for (NDSL/NDS) ...

So with the new Card reader wood went on fine but some of the games freeze a lot, is that just a poor game as they came off Isohunt, or something else?

What size is you're Micro SD chip, On that R4 original you have, Do not use anythink bigger then up to 2GB .

What games have a habit of freezing on you ?.

If not you could Backup content, Reformat Micro SD chip

And try YSMenu, Here is my pure build for, R4 Revolution for DS (NDSL/NDS)

After format, extract content files to Micro SD and place you're games and saves into the NDS Games folder.

 

I've got wood 1.51, games freezing are Animal Crossing, and GTA Chinatown, it's a 2gb Samsung

The original roms were off ISOhunt but i've now downloaded replacements from Romulation, so could it just be the poor quality roms, or do I need the newer wood?

On first glance 1.53 seems to have solved the issues I was having with crackly noises and freezing I got with 1.51 but I will update later when more thoroughly tested
