If the difficulty spike in the game doesn't bother you, then play Final Fantasy IV for the DS.

    I personally like that game.

They are all pretty enjoyable. Put them all on and play through all of them.

FFTA 2 and FF 3. FFTA 2 isnt as good as the first, but it is more challenging. I did not really like FF 4, it wasnt like the other FF games, but fantastic graphics.

As far as cart based games go, I think that FFIV (FFII US) and FFVI (FFIII US) both for the SNES were the best. Disc based games, I have to say FFVII and VIII are my 2 favorites. I love the world and the characters in VII, and I love the love story in VIII. I'm torn about which is my favorite. I love all four of them.

My favorite FF game would have to be FFVI for the SNES. Mainly for the villain. Kefka was my favorite villain in all of the series. He was badass because he was the only villain that was not a demigod or a monster or something like that. He was just a regular human that was completely psychotic and wanted to destroy everything. It was a villain with a true, driven purpose behind his madness, and an actual backstory to explain him. There was no "I am the final boss, I wish to destroy the world, let's fight now". The villain succeeds in leaving his mark on the world he sought to destroy, and even upon his death, he succeeds in robbing the world of the precious force of magic, taking the lives born of it with him. However, the catch was that when you meet him for the first time, you don't know he is a villain. Most people just think he is in the game for humorous purposes. Then the second half of the game hits you and you as they say "Shit bricks". It's glory is overshadowed, and lost on it's newer descendants as a younger generation takes on the improving graphic capabilities of evolving videogame consoles. Only those who are willing to take a step back to see what classic FF was all about, will find a whole new world. A world without load times, a world without emo bishi males and nonsense plots. Those who take the plunge will find a world of emotion and brilliance that only an SNES RPG can deliver. FFVII would be another good choice but I hated that pussy mama's boy that Sephiroth was.

Didn't you ever had that feeling that Kefka's character was kinda "modeled" after the Joker, you know Batman's arch enemy? That "GWAHAHAHA!" laugh of Kefka's & the way he think up his twisted plots made me feel that way when I first saw him. Then on the PSOne remake, he even looked more like Joker with the way Yoshitake Amano envisioned him for the remake's CGI

Only an eccentric dememted psycho would dress up like that on a daily basis, that or maybe a cabaret drag queen (no offense intended).

Yeah and unlike Sephiroth who was crafted from Genova or Ultimeccia from FF8 who was born with sorceress powers or Kuja from FF9, Kefka was just a regular powerless demented psycho who had ulterior motives right from the very moment he felt the power gained from magicite.

FFIV is easily the best, hands down. FFIII was not that great. FFIII had basically no story, very, VERY, bland characters and job system was not that great when compared to FFV. My personal favorites are 1) FFIV(AWESOME GAME, BEST GAME EVER!!!) 2) FFX and 3) FFVI.

I did indeed. Although I feel the Joker was modeled to resemble a clown whereas Kefka was modeled to resemble a court jester. Very similar concepts but with a hint of uniqueness.

FFVII. Awesomes. Kefka is a freak. I think the first time I played FFVI, when the "End" happened and the world got obliterated, I cried :p I think I was about 5 at the time. Can't remember though.

So what? the PSX is still awesome. Plus, FF9 will reign supreme over any PS2 RPG.

My 2 favourites are FF7 Crisis Core and FF10, but do note that I haven't played FF7.
For the DS FFIV is the best.

I really hate to sound like a fanboy, but You absolutely have to play FF VII. It is one of the best FF games ever made. The graphics are extremely dated, but other than that there is nothing wrong with this game. In my opinion this is Square's shining moment.

im sure there was already a thread on this somewhere....

anyway FFVII is obviously THE best, followed by FFVII: Crysis core when played directly after FFVII.

Not exactly a game, but FF VII Advent Children was an awesome anime. I really enjoyed it and it captured the feel of the world of Final Fantasy perfectly. Was great seeing the characters again.

But I have to say, Cloud in that movie looked like a Girl especially when he wears his glasses. When the movie started & showed cloud on that bike wearing his glasses the first thought I thought was, "Damn that's a hot chick right there!", then he removes his glasses & talks, oh shit it's a guy, not just any guy, it's Cloud :p Ugh!

Why do the Japanese find Bishonen (Girly looking guys) attractive anyway? :p
