We had topics like this before...AND EVERYONE FORGETS THE WII!

    WII WANT DA REVOLUTION!

...but on topic, ps3, free online gaming, easy to use, interchangable hard drive that is easier to mess with (as long as it's laptop spec, not the pre-shaped crap 360 has), it plays blue ray movies, and just the fact it's not an attempt by microsoft to make easy cash.

I trust the japanese with my gaming :D

It helps to state why you like it, so others can...add or despute points.

It makes topic more interesting :D

(The one thing I hate about both consoles is the risk of over heat, no longer can I leave any of these on all night ;( )

I like it because it's exclusive games are better like Uncharted, Little Big Planet an Infamous. It can also read blu-ray which is great... Although the Xbox 360 has cheaper prices on their games and you can easily make pirate copies of their games not like the PS3 in which you have to cough up a lot of cash....

altough it is ilegal to make pirate copies and that's why I don't do them

Personally I like the PS3, mainly because it's the system that I own. But I also like that it can play blu-rays and the image quality is really nice both for movies and games.

Ohhhhhhhh mannnnnn here we go. Get ready for a quotefest.

I was just about to mod my friend's 360, good to know.
Keyword there is the RISK of overheat. Since I've jailbroken my PS3, I am obligated to leave it running because if I shut it off, I have to rejailbreak it, which requires me turning off my iPhone, which is like Russian Roulette on getting it to reboot to the Apple OS.

I've left mine on for at least a week now, and no overheating, even with a 7200 rpm drive in it, which they've said would make it overheat. You can be paranoid about it all you want, just don't do the ridiculously stupid things, like leave it running for a week straight in some little tiny ass corner with no ventilation. I have mine sitting in the coldest room in the house, and out in the open where it can breath.
I hate having to find Verbatim DVD-R+DL for 360 games. No store freaking has them.
PS3 on the other hand is much easier just being able to dump your games to the internal or an external HDD. I don't think anyone has bothered with making 1:1 Blu-Ray backups yet, and really, there's no need to.
For "backing up purposes," one can simply go to a game rental store, rent a few games, dump them, and then return them.
I don't see how simply hitting O to dump a game to a harddrive is harder than finding unavailable media...and then to compound the fact that the 360 has an internal drive that can't simply be replaced with a standard laptop 2.5" SATA HDD.

    --
I like the PS3 simply because of what I can do with it right now. If I had a 360, that would able to run backups using an external HDD or the internal one, which I'd have swapped with a 500 GB drive, I'd probably say the same thing about the 360.
Since the PS3 jailbreaking scene is relatively new to the 360 one, I'd go in favor of 360 in availability of dumped games, both XBLA and retail discs. There's a lot more support in save editors for the 360 as well, since the developers of the save editors bitch about the save encryption on the PS3...

I'm definitely not an online person, and I'm not gonna bother going online with hacked systems so I'd have to go with PS3 for now, even if the online aspect of the PS3 is inferior to Xbox Live. Really, the whole point of a 360 is to be able to go online and since I don't have a 360, I don't plan on paying for the subscription, and a hacked system means getting banned, I really don't find it worth it to go out and get one just yet.

Insane-I seen disasembly vids of both ps3 sorts...

I'd leave it on for 24hours max, one big mega fan aint gonna do the job, unlike a pc where many fans are going and can be improved...

But god, I thought it was a full hack not a temp?

That said, I dont think my slim would last 24hours in my room, it has space but my room is dusty like hell, and it heats up quickly (my room).

So is downloading them/free music/free movies/watching youtube clips of movies that are part of a set.

    Who cares XD

depends how the inside is designed and how many cfm the fan gets. I have a big mega fan (213 CFM from memory) that can cool anything on its own, but it sounds like a motorcycle.

I respectively choose the PS3 ...Just because of the great amount of exclusive games that will be out for 2011, furthermore it's just not a game system but also a great multi-media system.

Wheres the love for the Wii? Thats my favorite console, /console\

I prefer PC gaming, but if its just PS3 and Xbox360.

Xbox360, to be honest. I love the way they use MSPoints instead of making me spend up real direct, I may have no choice, but everytime I buy MSPoints, I end up getting something I love. I bought Limbo, bought DooM 2 the next day. Love both.

Points or actual money, you're still using actual money to buy the points so it equals out the same.
I don't see how this is an advantage...To me, it's a disadvantage. It's one extra step in converting to how much it will really cost to buy something. It's so much easier to just look at something, have it's monetary price listed, and decide for yourself instead of having to convert X points into Y dollars, and then decide if it's worth the price. It's a clever way to cheat people out of their money if they don't do the conversion. Also, you can buy the points, but that doesn't necessarily mean you're going to spend the points. Microsoft makes money either way, but you might not necessary get your bang for every buck you spend.

I'd rather have it where they just charge your card when you make a purchase. That way, if I spend $7.99, then I spend $7.99, not spend $10 in points, end up using $7.99 in points, have $2.01 leftover that I won't use for another 6 months, and have the potential that I actually spent more than $7.99 either because I didn't bother to convert the values, or due to a rounding issue.

I get what he's saying, but it's not really a good point. He's saying that spending money on more points that he doesn't need results in him buying something else later. Granted, he is paying more for nothing more than an afterthought. That and there's a possibility of never using it and always carrying around the excess points. I've wasted money on points because I have 60 points with nothing good to spend it on, no matter what, I'm going to have an excess amount of points.

    360 cause I don't own a PS3 :p

But seriously, Both consoles are great. I just prefer the 360 more(and yes I have played the ps3 a decent amount of times to give an opinion about it). I'm an online person myself and I find the online service to be great. Doesn't take long to get into a match and almost everyone has a mic to communicate with so it's never eerily quiet when I'm playing a game like Black Ops or Halo Reach (which also leads to amount of crap people say online). Also I love the fact that you can party chat if you have more than two people you wanna talk to (not sure about the ps3). And although you have I pay a 60$ subscription to stay gold every year(which really sucks), I find it worth it. However, the overall power and hardware of the 360 isn't the best. Even the latest games are starting to show the 360's age. Think of the 360 as a gaming PC that starting to get a bit outdated and you gotta pay for online services(like a WoW subscription). In return, the online service is fantastic and high quality. And it should be since you're paying $60/year for it.

As for the ps3, that fact that you can browse the internet, watch movies and videos, and use external hard drives is a major plus(damn you Micro$oft for not doing this in the beginning). The exclusive titles are, in my opinion, probably the best games out there(Uncharted, LBP, Grand Turismo, Heavy Rain, Killzone, etc.) Also, free internet is good. The console also doubles as a blu-ray player. So if you want to get both a gaming console and a media player/movie player, get a PS3. As for the online service, I find that it isn't as great as the 360. Can't really find many people with mics so communication via messaging is the more common. It also takes a while to get into a match from my experiences. Then again I'm not paying money to play online so it's kinda expected. I like to think of the PS3 as an "Only Does Everything" PC with online capabilities that aren't as great as the former PC. Still a great console and I wish I had one. But even then, if I did get one I'd probably use it mostly for playing exclusive titles, playing with my PS3 owning friends, and for browsing the internet when someone else is using the computer. I don't watch many movies so blu-ray is moot for me.

Well there's my two cents in this matter. Man I haven't typed that much in a looooooooong time.

Thats you, sure I may go like "I don't want to spend the extra money.." but like a day later I find something I want, e.g one day I buy Super Meat Boy, have enough points left over to get a classic, I buy the original Fable the next day. (Good game btw, everyone should check it out.)

Some people are picky and just cant choose what to do with there extra points, and yes, depending on the order you buy things you can just have 46 points laying around.

Anyways, another reason I love the 360 is because of some of the exclusives, but this goes to PS3 too, I personally LOVE the Fable series(fable 3 was kinda dissapoint, idk why.)

Not games like Halo though, some of the more unique exclusives.

Theres also Kinect, no offense to PS3 Move fans, but its just a dildo thats a Wii rip off.
Sure, the movement is kind of delayed, but it depends on your space and how you move. I'm more of the speedy, but dies out of energy quick. I can run fast, but my stanima might as well be of a horse that lost its leg a couple of moments after.

Kinect also seems to detect great, theres some annoying things, sure. And sometimes when you scratch you're head or cross you're arms it'll mess up. But its still cool.
