    What do you call that
    1. Connects your PSP to your PC?
    2. Connects your external DVD-ROM to your PC?

do you want the actual term for each different sub species to the standard usb connection.

i have no clue, some would say i'm a geek but i still don't know the answer to that question and i'm not that bothered as most people don't know ether and even if i new the correct terms the majority of people would only understand if you say "hey pass me that usb cable, no not that one, the one with the small/fat/special end" so the knowledge of such a subject would actually set me back in social understanding.

but it might still be cool to find out :p

oh i just googled it and its boring and looking at it i already knew this information but had forgotten it as it served no purpose.

there are your four standard usb connections and they are

    A (standard rectangle shape)
B (the fat one that is normally used on connection to printers and the like)
mini B (the small one that is used on things like mp3 players)
4pin mini B (a really small one that is not all that often seen)

hope that cleared things up for you

i don't know all my external drives have always used B so the cable i needed for it was a A to B usb cable.
why this question are you looking to buy a new cable

All the types have A on one end, For the DVD-drive I would suggest a 'B' is most likely, for the PSP either a mini-B or a 4-pin mini-B, probably the former.

Wasn't specifically ignoring you, was elaborating on what you said (i.e you didn't mention what the PSP might use) and correcting something he seemed confused about (i.e the 'A' plug)
