    Hello...

I recently found out on how to get background music on my site's frontpage.

Now is the question, what music should I put up?

Current: Microsoft - Windows XP intro

    Site: http://flippiemp3index.webs.com/

    Thanks.

Also, please no tracks from artists that are already listed in the sitebar.

    That sort of things.

the best sort of thing I can think of is just some chill

Always Returning by Brian Eno. "Simple music" or "Classic" and "Some intro music" don't really narrow down the options too much...

    lol

I've updated the site, so the background music is added.

The volume level still needs to be adjusted, though.

Dude. Worst fucking idea EVER. I'm listening to my local music which I like and your site starts playing this horrible music on top of mine, I can't turn it off. I'm annoyed. I leave and never come back. Good job! You just alienated 99.9% of your users.

I can't even stop it and the page wouldn't show until it had loaded 2.46 MB. What on earth made you do this? It's mind numbingly stupid.

... you can stop it at the bottom.

but I'll delete it. Maybe I'll make an button with "Play music" or something.

Now on how to get that.

Maybe a 5 second clip would be ok, having music constantly playing is just annoying.
Also making it random would be better.

No. It would not. Try counting to 5 (start at 0!) and you have 5 seconds. Now play some music and do it again. Those 5 seconds are going to annoy the hell out of you. If you absolutely must have music then make it a flash player which will load the music when you click play, that way you keep the load time down and your host will thank you for not using all their bandwidth.

I get 5 GB bandwidth, that's why I do not let users download much things...

Also, for that Flash, I will not put any single line of Flash HTML on that homepage.
It will mess the template up, I have read somewhere in the support forums.

hm maybe 5 seconds is a tad long, a short clip when you open a site can be cool though

Then the template is horrible. Flash is good when used in moderation, and there's no reason for it to mess up the template, it can be totally invisible.

Music on websites *can* be used to make it awesome, but it needs to be used right and that's very rarely done, for instance, it would never work on RomUlation.
