One of the most important & enforced rules in these forums is the Strict usage of English, I just hope this rule can exclude songs seeing as we do live in different parts of the world & we do have our own songs that we might like that do not have English lyrics. If it would be perfectly fine with the Admins, let us post lyrics &/or videos we can find on Youtube of our favorite non English song for everyone to listen to, if others would like to listen to them that is. Oh & no Anime &/or videogame themes please, I think those should be posted on their respective sections. To Start things off, here are a few 80's non English European songs I do LIKE Angelina by PSY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onjEoRfjdMw I have to confess, there is a "toilet humor" reason why I like this song. Back when this song was first heard in my country people created a toilet humor lyric to the song's chorus based on how the French lyrics "sounded" to us. 99 Luft Balloons by Nena http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9whehyybLqU I'm sorry, this German version sounds better than the English one though I admit I don't understand what is said. Vollig Losgelost - Peter Schilling http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61Urq6hn4h8 Like with Nena's song I like how this version sounds compared to the English version. Now for local Stuff... Anak by Freddie Aguilar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXv2inzPJTo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLGC7MmEIyo <- English version... Ugh! the lyrics do suck, "special child"? that sounded like he was referring to a mentally handicapped child which sounds very un- PC (Politically Correct). Very powerful song.... Bayan Ko by Freddie Aguilar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGIRQtSQftM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqJ-DN7w0IU <- English version Says it all, three hundred years of Colonization, & a century of corruption & oppression.... Handog ng Pilipino sa Mundo (EDSA People Power Song) by various Artists http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooGtSV7UafI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2zX22O6ryc <- English version W00t! \^_^/ 25 years after People Power & there's still no improvement Worse, our economy even fell lower than it was back in the 80's, we totally screwed ourselves when we got rid of Marcos *facepalm*
I like a lot of Rammstein songs. The songs are in German and it wasn't until I translated one that I noticed I was singing along to sadomasochism
Any of the opening themes from Fairy Tail (an awesome anime, would highly recommend it) are the only foreign language songs that I'm listening to at the moment. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tefLqKpKwKA
99 Luft Balloons and 99 Red Balloons are good in their own ways. I certainly don't hate how Goldfinger did the song, and in most versions, they still sing a verse in German. Nena did a new video within the past couple of years (I believe) for 99 Luft Balloons, and she is still fairly attractive. The music video is weird as hell though.
OK, here are a couple of early 90's Japanese Songs that became hits before the great Otaku &/or Weeaboo movement began. Which is why I like these as the one's that became hits after these have that annoying Weeaboo after taste to them. Sweet Soul Revue by Pizzicato Five http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-D4ueFzla04 Saigo no Iiwake by Hideaki Tokunaga http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLeeUB7pU9Y Sukiyaki - Ue wo muite arukou by Kyu Sakamoto http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtXQ31F1A-k Ugh! I said no Anime &/or Videogame music:
Many anime/video game themes are actual songs that existed before the series they were used in. Or do you really mean that every song used in an anime or video game cannot be used?
Oh, that reminds me. From the top of my head: Seasons Call by Hyde. I liek the vocals. IT'S JAPANESE and in an anime, but it's also a single. Feel free to ignore. D'Angelo by Diablo Swing Orchestra. It's ear candy to me. It's a standalone operatic song in Italian, but it's really an intro to a longer version of the song that is a bit metal and sung in English. They're awesome. I just don't think the thread should be limited to songs that were never in anime or video games.
If you can't decide if something is stupid weaboo shit, then send it to me via PM for proper evaluation. For self-assessment, here are some good signs: - It is Japanese (half-point for Korean) - It is pop music - The band members dress in bright clothing, red glasses, spiked hair, etc. - It is featured in Japanese animation - You have no idea what the lyrics about but it's surely whiney and maybe related to Nintendo or peaking up girls skirts. 3/5 will fit the definition
D: I was blissfully unaware of that. I thought it was less than half. OT: I'm just gonna insert an obvious choice: Mozart's Lacrimosa choir.
Admittedly, I stopped reading Cahos Rahne Veloza's post partway through the first sentence (sorry, but you do have a tendency to ramble). Your personal preferences for music don't cancel out other people's, and lol U2. I'll go with "Gee" by Girl's Generation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7mPqycQ0tQ and "Constant Noise" by Nyan Cat. http://nyan.cat/
I didn't mean to start a debate but fine, if you really want to post Anime &/or video game themes I'll make threads for them albeit the reason why I said those should be posted on a more appropriate thread is because there were such threads before. The only problem is they got forgotten & buried deep in the farther pages of other sub forums. To put it harshly yes, that's kind of my point.... but not to totally bash the otaku &/or Weeaboo sub culture.
Alright, get ready to make your ears bleed with these ear aching classics LOL! Dayang Dayang http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eu6VPV_waDU Caramelldansen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92XLNeo-Woc Macarena by Los Del Rio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sN62PAKoBfE Extasi Extano by Chimo Bayo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yea8k_SKSOw The Ketchup Song a.k.a. Asereje http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrxtHGuhTBA Gasolina http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtD0V6ADL5Y Sadness by Enigma http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFLRHPUWBI8&feature=related <- damn this song sounds so erotic! Informer by Snow http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StlMdNcvCJo <- this one's actually English but it sounds off. The reason? According to someone who commented on the video the singer is using Gypsy talk as well as using repetitive syllables to mask the song's true message which in this case is about a guy who took the heat for his druggie friend.
Can't you guys get through a topic without getting mad? And I'm going to cheat, because the closest I like to anything that's not english is MC Solaar. Because he picks awesome beats. Whatever he raps about probably sounds amazing in French, but the translations generally read stupid. Otherwise, everything else on Foobar is in the master language.
