For Graphic Card, I have a NVIDIA 9400 GT.
It's quite good for playing the next-gen games on PC.

I lol'ed at "brand of computer"
A good gaming computer should be put together from products from all different brands.
not one brand is the best at everything.
    graphics card = 9800GT
It's cheap and will run most games. If not, just buy two, lol

For gaming, do not buy 64 bit memory interface graphic card, look for 128 bit or more.

Buy Radeon HD 4850 if you have a money. For budget PC buy Nvidia 9500 GT, this card is cheap.

For current games such as L4D, CoD6, and Mass Effect you'd need at MINIMUM an Nvidia 9500GT or an ATi Radeon HD 4550. This would be with the resolution and the graphics settings set VERY low and frame rates would suffer immensely during heavy combat. Recommendations would be an Nvidia 9800GT or an ATi Radeon HD4650.

9500GT's and 4550's cost ~$50-65 USD. A 9800GT and HD4650 range from what manufacturer. Lowest is $85-100 USD all the way to $120 USD for EVGA. EVGA is the way to go! :) Happy Gaming!

I have over 30 games running on my Toshiba notebook without a problem: Toshiba L500D-00X
    500 GB Hard Drive
    4 GB Ram
    ATI Radeon 4100
    AMD Athlon2 Dual Core M320
    2.10 GHz
And not one game has slowed down a notch.

But if you have $$$ lying around with nothing to spend on you could go crazy and get Alienware. You don't have to ponder what to buy they fix everything for you, but to be honest you could probably get 2 set of PC with that kind of money :p

really... I thought it was better

they're generally worse. More expensive, and the fancy cases have even less airflow than regular dells.

so I'm better off lugging around the parts without the case... interesting... do they have laptops with clear cases?

Good graphics for killer performance, processor (at least Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad), 4GB memory because most new games from and games from a year a go will use up 2-4GB of RAM. Roughly, the minimun will be (in price) will be $700. But that is for current games that will probably allow you to play games that will be released in 2011. Most of the times, people buy the high end stuff for next-gen games so they don;t really have to bother upgrading their stuff!
    LOL, PNY Quadro graphics: $4500!

Quadro graphics cards are not for games, just like the ATi firegls arent.

Well, when looking for a card, I would suggest (Highly suggest) Getting something that has a 256-bit or higher bit rate, because the cards such as (4650, 3650, 5650 etc) have 128-bit, and that usually means laggy games, my setup is

    Athlon x2 7750 @ 3.15 Ghz
    HD Radeon 3850
    200GB HD (WIN7 Ultimate)
300GB HD (for installing games etc)
4GB of ram running at 1066

and I can play any game at max (Without AA sometimes) oh and I can't play crysis on max, but that's just over-rated

1st of all consider a new PSU units! (for further upgrades) 550W-700W is sufficent

HD5700++ series provide eco power (^^)

The best 'decent' graphics card (wich can run crysis on very high) is the ATI 4850. its cheaper than the nvidia 9800 and it runs better. However you need a decent processor and RAM to run it.
