The three you mentioned kryz are the most violent I have seen, but all are very good anime to boot. Must see, especially Claymore and Basilisk.

    hmm... X
I didn't remember the name, but I've definitely seen the anime before.
    I remember two versions:

    1. series, not really violent
    2. movie, damn violent

Somehow these two got different endings.
I think you mean the movie version when speaking of violent.

elfein leid was a bit gory but it can't compete with devil may cry.
I only watched the first episode but it seem like everything would turn into a demon and dante would get his huge gun a blast the mofo and have MK levels of blood fly out.
It was great but I had no clue as to what was going on other and shit blowing up/dieing so I kinda stopped watching it.
BTW it look really really nice(the animation)
Looks like they didn't use Korean animators for once.

Higurashi no naku koro ni, definitely! Elfen Lied isn't violent, just full of blood. Higurashi is a anime that is confusing yet interesting because of all the horrible murders that are very graphic.

Elfen Lied. I finally watched it. Only the first episode had me saying to myself, why the hell am I watching this?
Eventually, I got into it and I'm almost finished watching it. Well, I must say, the most violence I have ever seen in an anime is in the first episode.
