Weird glitch with US Phoenix Wright JFA

So I played through the game and got about to the 4th case. During the investigation you need to go to a place to do further investigation. However the moment I selected the area, the game froze. It's weird because I checked the comments of the said game and nothing like that ever came up. On top of that, the European version (English, French and German version), didn't have that glitch.

For those who played the game, the place is Juan Corrida's Room.

 

Backup all your files and reformat your MicroSD.

 

Ok, so how do I do that?

Backup all your files in your MicroSD,
e.g Copy/cut it to somewhere else first.

and the Format it.

 

Right, but how do I format? I'm still new to this thing and I'm clueless on stuff like formating and firmware.

 

To reformat:
Copy and paste all your files from MicroSD onto your computer.
Delete them on the SD card.
Right click and click format.
Format to FAT32 if 2GB (Most common)

 

What flash cart is this?

If the reformat doesn't work, and newer firmware could help...

 

R4 for DS/DS Lite

The MicroSD is 1 gb.

 

What firmware are you using?
It works normally with 1.18

 

I'm not too knowledgeable, but yeah it's v 1.18.

I'll reformat it, but I deleted the JFA file and downloaded the E one instead (english, french and german) anyway. What benefits will a reformat do anyway?

 

It basically helps with freezing issues affected by the MicroSD's read/write speed being slower etc.
