Hi! I have one iso image installed to Buffalo MiniStation 320GB usb HD using WBFS Manager 3.0. I made HBC entry using the WBSF Manager. But when I launch the game, there just comes black screen. I tough, that it doesn't work without some usb loader. It seems that those usb loaders need cIOS38 to work so I tried to install cIOS38 rev17 (using HBC). My wii freezes without any error message, after I have selected the IOS249 and pressed A (to continue) from remote. The light goes out from the remote and just nothing happens. At first time I had one GC control connected, but it didn't help that i removed it. Does anyone know should that WBFS HBC entry work without usb loader/some cIOS? Or what should I do to make cIOS38 rev17 installation work? Here something about my config: - Black WII, System Menu 4.2E - HBC working, installed it using HackMii Installer Thanks in advance for help.
Here is a link to perhaps help you in this dilemna. http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-faqs-guides-tutorials-only/24630-full-hacking-guide-4-2-system-menus.html In the 4.2 update for the wii, nintendo Installed a "Stub IOS" for IOS249. This blocks the installation of IOS38 in IOS249's Slot. You need to uninstall IOS249, and that guide will help you do so. You will also need cIOS222 installer by Hermes for USB Loader GX or ULoader. - http://www.4shared.com/file/170199525/368817f2/uloader_v32.html This is from my own personal 4.2 hacking guide. But you will need to uninstall the stubIOS249 if you have not already. if you need any help, just let me know. ace
Thanks for your quick reply! I uninstalled the IOS249, followed instructions in your guide (which was nice). Then I installed IOS38-64-v3610.wad like the guide said. After that I upgraded the IOS to rev 17 from http://filetrip.net/f9426-cIOS-Installer-38r17.html. All those installations worked like a charm, Thank you very much ace! I will continue tomorrow to trying to get USB HDD to work..
You're very welcome!! I love hacking wiis and helping people hack theirs!! just follow the steps i posted for the cIOS222 installer.
It's alive! I have successfully loaded iso image from USB HD! My thought was to make minimum amount of software changes to my wii (that I don't brick it) and to play iso image games from USB HD. I read from many sites that Waninkoko's cIOS38 should be quite safe to install to IOS249. This is what I did, what I remember 1. Bought Black Wii (Serial starting LEH5) 2. Installed offical updates from Nindendo, got system menu 4.2E 3. Installed HBC using Hackmii installer 4. Installed WBFS Manager 3.0 to PC 5. Formatted Buffalo Ministation to WBFS and loaded iso image to it 6. Tried to make HBC entry and load the game using it, but got only blank screen 7. Tried to install cIOS38 rev17, but it freezed after selecting IOS 8. Uninstalled IOS249 stub (Used guide 24630-full-hacking-guide-4-2-system-menus.html) 9. Tried to install cIOS38 to rev 17, but got error -2011. 10. Installed cIOS38 (IOS38-64-v3610.wad, used guide 24630-full-hacking-guide-4-2-system-menus.html) 11. Upgraded cIOS38 to rev 17 (http://filetrip.net/f9426-cIOS-Installer-38r17.html) 12. Installed USB Loader GX 1.0 (http://sites.google.com/site/usbloadergui/downloads) 13. Connected the USB HD to lower usb slot (from upper USB loader didn't found HD) 14. Started USB Loader GX from HBC entry 15. Loaded the iso image successfully! Many Thanks to ace1o1 and to HBC, cIOS38 and USB loader GX makers!!
