Wants to try out a WoW private server.

I've never played World of Warcraft before, only heard that it's one of the most popular games ever. Can anyone tell me how addicting this game is, how much time a person would have to spend playing this game to get all the cool skills, etc.

 

If it's your first MMO, then just stop right now. Best to not even be dragged into any MMO's, first one is always hardest to break away from.

If you're really dead set on playing WoW, then play their 10 day trial, do not start on a private server no matter what. I only recommend private servers once you have a clear understanding of the game.

The game pretty much throws cool shit at you right away, spoiling the fuck out of you so you dont have to really earn anything and ruining it for real MMO's.

For super duper gear, once you're max level, just ask in main chat channels about open pug raids. This game is retarded easy which is why its so successful. Can get top gear with minimal effort.

I say wait a year or so for some new fresh mmo's to come out. Or wait till Cataclysm comes out then try WoW.

 

I won't recommend WoW for a new player like you. It won't work. Private server is even easier than the real one. WoW will consume a lot of your time even with its easiness, and what little kill said is true for an MMO but WoW is still more difficult than non-MMO game like Modern Warfare.
Wait Cataclysm to hit as it will revamp almost all of the old contents, even the game world change quite a lot from what i've seen in the alpha leak.

YES it is lacking, you can't get into high-level dungeon(instances), your level cap is 20. You can't really do awesome stuff at 20. You can't visit high-level places like that and most of the best area/zone are way beyond 20.
It is not because you can't, it is because once you venture into a high level place (WOW has no loading time from zone to zone, unless you are entering a dungeon or crossing a continent) the mobs will see you and land a few hit which will result in your death.

 

hey stan, the 10-day trial turned into a 2 hour trial for me then i bought it, its really good... the skills are good for all levels some classes are easier than others.

you dont even need the expansions to have fun i didnt have any of them and still had a blast they only add to the game not make the game.

the private servers are a waste of time unless you just want to PVP.

its worth the $15/month seriously you could easily put 100+ hours into the game and still not get sick of it .. the only reason i quit playing is because i lost my job and couldnt pay for it..

i didnt dig the shaman, hunter, or warlock class, my favorite was a gnome mage with mining/engineering.. ice speciality is pro in my humble opinion

i wouldnt wait for the expansions since most of the content is geared towards level 80s and you wont get there in 2 days like some people say they can do..i played it for 2 months and had a lvl 20, and 4 lvl 10s toons (characters)

*if you find a normal private server (i.e normal exp, money drops etc.. let me know id be happy to play along with ya try it out first though haha im in the usa and latency above 300 is a no go

 

Exactly. Im looking for 1x private servers. Not high rates. I want a private server almost identical to the original WoW

 

i did find that the horde didnt have half as many quests ...

thats weird about the frost mages being a joke on your server, i was only like level 27 or something and i was beating alot of mobs with a frost nova and blizzard combo. in my opinion if you can slow an enemy's attack speed and you're a mage..do it haha. plus frost armor is highly useful as the "frozen" effect it causes actually hits quite often. it may be different when you get up in the higher levels but my mage ended up being the only class i really got into playing alot

 

I still think the Shamans are the most underrated by Blizzard. I mean their quest line is long.

 

I think Shamans are useful in raids. I think PvP Shamans are so lacking. From my experience of course.

 

When it comes to Druid i think being a tank is the best path to choose. Anyway both druid and shaman are pretty decent hybrid classes. So have you kicked Arthas' ass?

 

I've played it for almost 3 years about 5 to 10 hours a day it's not good for you
If you are joining a guild you must play 4 out of 7 nights a week they have a raid every day at fixed time if you don't show up you're kicked out of the guild
there alway trouble who is leading the raid and so on
It make no differents if you play on a private server or on the legal servers

its got about 200+ players online and a PvE server based in the US

i might even reinstall WoW and check it out for the heck of it ...

*edit so i couldnt connect to the server and the forums only have 1 post in 2009 so i dont reccomend that one, but i found another one..and this time i tried it out before i opened my mouth

supports all the expansions or just the vanilla patched to 3.3.3a
