I've grown weary of today's games and wish to travel back to the good ol' days. But when I downloaded Dolphin, it just went straight to the 'Encountered a Problem' window...I even went to the main site and they all didn't work...Assistance!

Sometimes, different games need different version and settings for it to be playable.

    Which game was it?

Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, Tales of Symphonia, and Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness.

What are your computer specs? You need a relatively powerful computer to run Dolphin.

Refer to http://www.dolphin-emu.com/news.php for a compatibility list, and a forum dedicated to Dolphin.

Ah, that makes sense. MY computer is somewhat old; maybe about '03. I'm still using Windows XP.

Windows XP is Ok, as long as you have the hardware required to run it. The video card is an important piece of hardware.

ToS and Sonic Adventure 2 working fine on the latest and previous version of Dolphin.
Pokemon XD may run at the start but freeze on the title screen.

make sure you have updated your direct x, C++, and graphic driver to the latest version.
And download the emulator based on your OS version.(x64 or x86)

Check for the game compatibility first before using it.

I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to Dolphin, but I'd say if it has integrated video, (which most laptops do, Intel chipsets), then it will likely struggle emulating higher systems. I don't believe Intel chipsets support OpenGL properly (if at all). And being that the price of that laptop is low, it's likely to have integrated video (it's cheaper).
