update your antivirus and run a scan. If its norton or mcafee, uninstall it and get a decent one such as AVG free.

Yes, update your anti-virus as Loony says.

After that, shut down your computer and boot into Safe Mode (press F8 as your computer boots up which should give you a menu.)

From Safe Mode, run a full virus scan and let it finish.

try what hypr said, but some AV's won't run in safe mode (because the drivers they need arent loaded). If thats the case then you'll have to run it in normal mode.

Actually the newest Norton isn't all that bad, but still, trend ftw, never had ANY problems with it

Anyway, if Loonys suggestion doesnt fix it then could you post any more details about it?

I personally recommend Kaspersky. It may be costly, but it is one of the most efficient and effective anti-virus software available, and is even better than Trend Micro.

Kaspersky even removed a virus that AVG failed to clean my machine from. I didn't even need to go into Safe Mode for that.

So, there's another anti-virus recommendation: Kaspersky. Uses little resources and won't slow down your machine in the background.

    I use AVG free...because it's...free XD

Though that safe mode thing is a good idea-I'd best note that down :)
