Get an antivirus on that machine then boot the machine into safe mode with networking and get updates for the antivirus.

Run it after that and see if it kills it. I'll throw up some other programs for you to try if AVG doesn't fix it.

Then run it in safe mode after your initial scan if it doesn't come up with anything.

Noob question, How do you switch to safe mode?

hammer f5 or f8 right before you get the windows loading screen, (f5 should go direct into safe mode if it still works, if not f8 gives you a menu) If you're doing what reider said and need networking in safe mode, then you have to use f8

This is what I did to get rid of mine.

I changed my msn password, I did try one of those trojan removal tools but Im not sure if that just stopped the msn one and gave my comp its own set of viruses O_O

Boot-time scan is only for x86

Just a bit of advice :)

Aside from having a good anti-virus application, it's in your system's best interest that you also put on a good anti-malware application as virii & malware are two different things although both do harm to your system.

One of the best anti-malware applications out there is malwarebytes...

    http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Also, aside from an anti-malware app, you'd also be better off with an anti-spyware app like Spybot S&D:

    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

Lastly a far superior Firewall like ZoneAlarm won't hurt in beefing up your system's immunity as Windows Firewall isn't exactly solid as a rock.

Hope these tools will help you out :)

My only other question is did you inform all of your contacts about what happened so they can avoid getting hit with it as well?

It spreads by going through your contacts so you'd probably better let them know ASAP.

Get Norton not AVG. AVG couldn't detect the original Microsoft virus (yes there is one) but Norton could. Norton is twice as good as AVG.

Norton is the WORST antivirus EVER produced. Bar none.

I would disagree with you loony, Mcafee is worst, then Norton. But you have more experience than I in antivirus programs so i would incline more on your decision.

They're both resource hogs so I generally dislike both of them. Their penchants for false positives are fairly annoying as well.
