VirtualBox unexplained crash

    I'm using VirtualBox to make a few Ubuntu VMs. However, when I click the Settings button, or go through the menus to Machine > Settings, VirtualBox crashes with no explanation. What is the problem and how do I fix it?

    first thing is to make sure you're using the most up to date version of virtualbox.
