You can put a video file on a micro sd card for the R4. You MUST have a slot 2 card for the NDSL though.

No you don't. He wants to play videos, not GBA ROMs.

you have to download videos in avi format and also download moonshell 10 dpg tools and use the dpgenc app and then save the new dpg video on your flash cart and boot up moonshell :) ;D

You must have a slot 2 card for your DS to play videos kid.

For example in my case with the M3 Real GBA bundle, the system files come with a built in Moonshell media player to play videos in .dsm and .dpg format.

Otherwise yes you will need Moonshell. If you want to convert movies more power to you.
I just take the easy route and watch movies that are pre-converted.

    [facepalm]

Someone back me up! You don't need to have a slot 2 card to play videos. I can play it with my R4 alone just fine.

You should use BatchDPG. It's supposed to encode better or something. Me, I just use the dpgtools that comes with moonshell. And B2K, I think some of these people don't own a DS and/or flashcart :p

You dont need movies in a AVI format. Download a converter called SUPER and you can pretty much convert to NDS format (.DPG) from any video file type. Also most slot one devices play movies fine on thier own.

Did you download it from the official site? The link didn't work for me. I DL'ed from a mirror though. IMO it blows all other free/shareware converters out of the water.
The video played right out of my R4; no slot 2 or anything.

    For the newbies out there:

If you have an R4, it comes with a popular homebrew called Moonshell. What you do is you put MP3 files and DPG videos onto your microSD card and it will be able to be played by Moonshell. In order to convert videos to DPG format, just read the explanations above. MP3 files need no conversion to be played. If using an R4 or the almost identical M3, you do NOT need to have a slot 2 device in order to play videos or music.

Well I guess you caught me. Tested it and your right Videos will work w/o the slot two card.

I've played videos for a long while and thought the GBA card was crucial for the process.

It was from hear say, that's why I was convinced. Sorry to mislead ya hanghanghang.
