The more you play games, the less fun real life things are. It decreases your sensitivity to things you would find fun. Ordinary things in life that used to be fun, are now just boring.

Do you agree with this general theory?

I think this is just depressing. It's like saying reading too many good books is detrimental to your happiness in life.

Of course, this is just me. I've heard people becoming more impatient with life in general after they've used Google a lot or switched from Dial-Up to Broadband or something like that. Maybe for those sorts of people it's true, but definitely not for me.

Well I play games, like more than 4 hours a day, go online and such, well I must say that I apreciate even the small things in life, it don't trouble me, so I'm a exeption for that, maybe there's people that get affected with that, but not me.

That's like saying movies or music make your life boring. I guess if you happen to find your life boring, then yeah, you're right. Ultimately, they're just entertainment, and are fictional creations used to escape reality.

If playing video games is causing a depression might be best to stop playing all together.

So is smoking Marijuana, more so when you combine it with games and movies.

^ First off, marijuana is meant to 'relax' you. How would that expand your imagination? Secondly, marijuana is a memory loss drug. Therefore, how would you even remember your time spent high?

I don't think it is, I know people who regularly smoke it and they have no recall problems.

I've always considered life boring, heck I'm quite a boring person.

Video games is irrelevant, it's how you take life tat determines IF it's boring.

    How many years though?

Watched a few stories about people who gone off it, claiming memory loss, and one of my mates who quit (he was one of the addicted ones) also is extremely forgetful.

You'd think he's still on it with the way he act's.

I should have put "by personal experience" and I do consider it mind expanding (but on a personal level as everyone is different) I get very creative and work on things that normally I wouldn't sober in fear as I might mess something up or what have you and I sure as fuck don't forget anything I do either. IF that were true about memory loss I would do it a hell of a lot more than what I do as there are tons of shit I would love to forget.

 You didn't partake did you Loony? :p

    Does it really matter?

    That you are. :p

ANYWAY I still stand on I cannot see video games causing life to seem dull and mundane.

Sounds like some useless twat is blaming video games for making his boring life boring.

If you don't understand fiction and reality, your a fool.

EDIT: I suppose that theory could be applied to some people? But not myself and that's just my silly little opinion. :)

I found my life somewhat boring because all my friends were playing video games at their PC's all the time. I got a PC when I was 15 and it wasn't meant for gaming so I still couldn't do gaming. Noiw,5 years later I'm in College and i have so much other things to do than games. My life still is somewhat boring, because to be able to do 'stuff' nowadays you need lots of $$$.
