Im just wondering if Ill need to find specific roms that will work on a mac, or if roms are universal along as I get an emulator that works with one, Im currently trying to use some roms from tis site with VisualBoy Advance and Im having no luck with it.

Yes, they will always work, as long as you get the emulator that works on it. What ROMs are you wanting to emulate? Do you have 1.7 Mac version of VBA?

Yes im running VBA 1.7.4, and using a version of super mario world from this site, Im also not possitive if Im acualy using the roms correctly
It just says that the rom is an unknown file type when I try to use it.

Dosn't Mac OS extract files prior to the download, everything else Ive gotten has worked that way

No, and it cannot extract files before it has downloaded them because it doesn't have the files. Mac OS may be able to natively open zip files (another type of compressed archive, Windows XP upwards can natively extract them), however our roms are in .rar files, which are compressed using a different algorithm and cannot natively be opened by any OS that I know of.
