i upgraded my pc ram, from 2 256MB DDR 3200 ram sticks, with an added 512MB DDR 3200 ram stick (from kingston), did the windows verification and all, and now most of my firefox 2 bookmarks have disappeared. Mozilla 3 beta 4 is ok, however. why does this keep happening to me?
It wouldn't have had anything to do with the ram upgrade. also you're supposed to run DDR ram in matched pairs, which you currently are not. It won't break anything, just will be noticeably slower.
upgrading ram will have nothing to do with losing your bookmark. By the way, What do you mean by 'keep happening to you'? you upgrade ram before and loose your firefox bookmark before? or something else happen and you loose your bookmark? maybe is the something else which you 've never identify yet. i don't see how a bookmark can be lost so easily. one hint: try asking your mom. maybe she found your bookmark to be inappropriate for your age, so she delete it without you noticing it. she didn't mention it, because 1st, she don't want to embarass you about the content in your bookmark. 2nd she don't want to go into sex education with her kids. you know, is difficult. hahaha.
Hmm, that's weird, as soon as I upgraded Mozilla Firefox 2 to the latest update, all my bookmarks went, maybe this happened to you too?
this is exactly whi I don't use firefox...alone..... what you do, get another browwse with all your bookmarks, and save bookmarks to both before you update one...but since you updated on ram....I'm not that good with the technicasl stuff, go ask my dad or something, he plays brawl
happened to me a few times on both pc and laptop, happens when i update but i did figure out that it only removes the ones just saved to the bookmarks and not those in folders
The easy way so it dont happen again, open ff go>bookmarks>organize bookmarks>file>export...now save them somewhere safe
Firefox bookmarks are fragile things, and updating stuff can baleet them. However, firefox keeps backups! Open firefox. Bookmarks -> Organize Bookmarks. From that window, File -> Import -> from file Navigate to the bookmark backup folder. It's located in: C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR-USER-NAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[string of characters].default\bookmarkbackups Import a bookmark backup from a few days before the crash happened and Voila!
cool never knew it made backups. how far back do they go? mine only go back a few days as i cleared out all my bookmarks when i changed to safari, and let the kids use ff for there browser instead of ie.
