ok, now this is the best i can explain what is going on with me.

my PC's power unit seems to be running weirdly and when i check the task manager to see what is making it do that, it seems like a system process called svchost.exe that is running my pc ragged and i would like to know if this is normal for it to make it run weirdly or is this a virus issue that i might have to resolve?

google svchost.exe and it will explain what it is, but its not a virus. loony will most likely put it all in a nice bite size nugget for you later on.

svchost is the windows service host, it is perfectly normal for there to be several instances of it running, however they shouldnt be consistently using a lot of resources.

well i do have one that usually is taking up near 100,000k+ in mem usage so that is why i have been trying to figure it out

odd, my highest instance only uses 27MB. does the name look any different to the other instances (maybe its in all caps or something?) At this point there's several options. it could be a malware posing as svchost, a malware that attached itself to svchost or just a perfectly legitimate service thats got out of control. I would suggest you run malwarebytes antimalware to start with. Also,

Open a command prompt window, and type:
    Code:
    tasklist /svc /FI "MEMUSAGE gt 90000" > c:\svc.txt
(make sure the 90000 is a number slightly less than what the problem service is using) then open c:\svc.txt and paste the contents into [nobbc]
    Code:

    [/nobbc] on here.

also loon, when i ran the command and got the info you wanted it doesn't show anything except for firefox, but i did put the info i got from the svc.txt file anyways, hope the picture helps also
    Code:

    Image Name PID Services
    ========================= ====== =============================================
    firefox.exe 1560 N/A

well if you disable the windows security center notifications (thats just the thing that bitches when you haven't updated windows/don't have a firewall/antivirus) that will cut it down, or you can disable the security center service entirely if you dont use it and its an annoyance.

you could also re-run the command I gave, using 50000 instead of 90000

ok, i re-ran the command and it still gives firefox being the only one running with it, also the update notification thing doesn't bother my pc

also loon, i noticed when i try to disable the notification, my pc spikes through the roof, so could i ask, is there a chance a virus or spyware has attached to it and is causing the issue?

@loon: well, i found out what was going on and found out that i did indeed have a viruses (i do mean more than one) they were attached to my update notification crap, so i had to do a full system restore to rid myself of it >__<

@stanley: the highest thing i have running now is my bit torrent program but its barely running 2,000k
