    Anyone tried it?
I updated it from 9.10 on my mum's computer and it's a major improvement from it.
    It's just pure awesomeness.

Going to finally make use of my 90GB partition for this bad baby.

I've used Ubuntu, but to be honest with you it's not the best Linux distro out there.
    Better for beginning users.

Check here for more Linux distros that are perhaps far better than Ubuntu. - http://distrowatch.com/

And try to stay away from anything that is based off of KDE 4, or if it rhymes with Ubuntu... =\
Unless you really do like it...

    linux isn't a distro.

ubuntu is so geared towards GUI and beginners that if you want to do something that the gui wont allow you can't do it without massive hacking of the OS in terminal. Also all the gui crap gets in the way of people who do know what they're doing.

I like Ubuntu's simplicity, and I need just a simple computer for typing up documents. I have it dual-booted with Windows 7 Eternity.

Ubuntu 10.04 is decent, it has a new purplish theme which is kinda cool, the only thing I hate about it is that GIMP and gparted are gone.

you can always redownload it in synapatic package manager :\

i decided to go back to mint linux 8, everything isn't separated into categories on the taskbar. less clutter is best for me, but it's not as fast to boot up as ubuntu... at least, not for me.

I did a clean install of 10.04, and I must say that for the most part I've been impressed with this release. Even though I know there are some pretty serious bugs that still need to be fixed, for me personally it has worked like a charm. Every single piece of hardware in any of my computers have been detected and have worked automagically, the new messaging menu is great, and everything I liked about 9.10 is still there. It's fast as hell too. Boot-up and shutdown is crazy fast. It's a HUGE improvement over 9.10. I'm not crazy about moving over the window buttons for the default theme, but it isn't as bad as I thought. I've decided to give it a try, and I really haven't found it to be very annoying. What is annoying is that I can't sync my iPod, which I could do in 9.10, but that's an issue with Banshee, not Ubuntu. I have already filed a bug, and they are working on a fix, so hopefully it'll be fixed soon.

So what you're saying is that if there's something that you can't do using the GUI, you can't do it using the GUI? Yes, I would be inclined to agree with you, but I would hardly say that's exclusive to Ubuntu. I have yet to come across a task that I *couldn't* do using the GUI. I just prefer to do a lot of it using the terminal, as that's usually faster. No "hacking of the OS" required.

I gave it a test run this weekend on my laptop, and besides the few bugs here and there (nothing i couldn't fix on my own mind you) its a welcome upgrade.
