Two Questions for techies 1 about Dx other about ps2 controller

Okay so first of my direct x problem... my graphics card only supports up to DX 8 right..... but my idiot cousin went and upgraded our dx to 9 and now when running dx stuff (say no$ trying to use dx) the screen goes black and the thing fails to run.

Now I have tried the dx diagnostic stuff and it says no problem with the dx but it says the dx files are all dx9 but only checks 6 7 and 8 of dx type so i know they work but with it trying to use dx9 files on a card that doesn't support it things just don't work. So is there anyways to undo the dx9 upgrade back to dx8? (without having to completely wipe and reinstall my OS losing all my files as well)

Question 2: I have 2 PS2 controllers of dual shock 2 suddenly both stop working right..opened one and managed to fix it and it worked for about 2 hrs then all of sudden all the button presses are mapped to the same button (x) by that i mean l1 r1 etc ..
(only two that didn't get mapped to x were start and select) why did this happen and how do i undo it?

Controller 2: the control works fine until you try lifting the controller (moving the wire that connects into controller from PS2) and the controller dies (re set it flat and it regains life) what would cause this (the most simple thing i can think of is the the wire is lose in controller but after what happened with first controller I'd rather be sure before messing with it.

What should I do with this one?

I have a PS1 dual shock but not all PS2 games will work using it
(some require it be a PS2 controller)

 

If your card only supports DX8, then that should be all it attempts to use, my mom's has the latest installed, her card only supports 8, it works fine, so get the latest redist package..i'll link once i find it.
question 2: for controller 1, i can't help ya, for #2, i assume it to be a wire short... one of my friends used tape to hold the cord in place at the base (where it's plugged in), and at the top of the controller, and it works fine, i'll edit this post with the latest redist package soon.

and also, it is recommended that if that doesn't work, to do a system restore to the point in time before the update.

 

Then why do some of my DX stuff no longer work?( ex: no$gba with or without zoomer all latest)

I know no$ runs dx cause others use it but mine goes black screen or blank if i try
