i want to buy a tv tuner stick but i dont really know what to look for so heres some im thinking of buying http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010380047%201685342849%204025&name=%2425%20-%20%2450 i want one thats cheep yet i can play video games on and runs on Linux programs like me tv
none of those can play video games, you need one with RCA inputs for that. I doubt you'll find a USB stick one with RCA inputs. Mine is PCMCIA. Cheap is also a no-go for RCA inputs.
why not go with a, http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010380047%2050001772%201685342849&name=Hauppauge hauppauge and pinnacle were the choice back then but i don't know if they are still the choice today. btw, that $75 with remote looks great. if you can try a pci slot card as it should be cheaper or has more features and such then a usb version.
i have a vcr (yes i have still have a vcr) with av inputs so i a can hook up my cable and my games that way. that $74 one is hd will that work on a non hd pc? and will it work with a linux tv tuner software?
the device should be able to work with non hd pc. that hd just refers to the device as accepting hd signals. i don't know if it will be compatible with linux programs. you should probably ask loony for that, he's into linux and stuff and he'll probably know.
buying a known brand such as hauppage or pinnacle is much more likely to be supported than a no-name.
