[Tutorial] Playing NES/SNES/MS/Genesis/32x/Mega-CD/Game Gear Online

Hi. This tutorial is going to show yo how you can play any of the following consoles online;

Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)
Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES)
Sega Master System (SMS)
Sega Genesis/32x/Mega-CD
Sega Game Gear

The purpose of this is to avoid using Kaillera, which is laggy. Using the client you will download, it will be P2P (Peer to Peer), and you will be directly connected with your opponent. If you have at least a decent connect, you will see no lag, and no delay.

So, let's begin.

Required Tools

To play all of the games, you'll need a series of tools. They're all small - so don't worry. Here's a list of emulators, and the client that you need.

ZSNES 1.42 (SNES)
ZSNES 1.36 (SNES)
Kega Fusion 3.51 (Genesis/32x/Mega-CD, GameGear, Master System)
VirtualNES 0.97 (NES)
Classic Gaming Arena Client [Required]

Installing the Client/Running The Client

Installation is very simple. After downloading the Classic Gaming Arena Client (see link above), unzip it into a new folder. Run "Registerfiles.bat", and let it run.

Now, register here. This will be your account. (Note, this step is not required, but it is extremely useful for identification. If you do not register, you will be seen as "guest.")

After that, run cga.exe. It will prompt you to set up all your emulators - do so. (Just select all the emulators you downloaded above.)

Then, if people are playing, you will see games to the right. Select one, and double click it to join. Alternatively, if you don't see a game you like, at the top, click "Game - Create Game." Select your emulator, name the room, and you have created your own room. Select your game, and wait for someone to join.

Port Forwarding

Unfortunately, some people are behind firewalls. Because of this, you'll need to forward the following ports:

7845 UDP (For ZSNES)
7157 TCP (For downloading off other people)
5394 UDP (For KegaFusion)

If you don't know how to port forward, I suggest you follow your internet cord until you reach your router, or modem. Find out the name of it. Then, go to this website: www.portforward.com. Find your router, then select "ZSNES" (Bottom right). It will teach you how to forward your ports for ZSNES. Then, use the same procedure, but switch the port & protocol. Then, you're all set to play.

Choosing A Game To Play

Well. Not everybody knows a game to play. Usually, play popular games, that you know about. Otherwise, come see this list.

Errors?

Well, unfortunately, some people have issues with registering their files. (Most people don't.) But, if you do, check here, or post on the GodWeapon.com Forums

Anyways. If you see that it tells you "****.dll is not correctly registered", then first try running the 'registerfiles.bat' as admin. If that does not work, you must manually register all the .dll files that have come with CGA.

To do this, copy the files from your CGA folder to C:\Windows\System32. Then, open up the command prompt. (To open up command prompt, go to Start (Or Vista Button), All Programs, Accessories, then click Command Prompt.)

Next, you need to register the files. For example, for COMDLG32.OCX you type "Regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\COMDLG32.OCX". You then do this for all the files, and it will work. :].
