Note: Before we even start, I don't want to hear that, "oh well I can make a totally hacked shiny Ho-oh with over 400 in each stat!" This isn't for noobish hacking skills. This is for making your Pokemon look as legit as possible without you having to do the tedious hours of breeding or EV training (mostly breeding). Most players that even have a clue on how to battle in the meta game will spot a hacked Pokemon and will disconnect on sight. Don't be a noob. Now, onto the tutorial! What is Pokesav? Pokesav is a save editor for Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. It allows you to edit in items, Pokemon, even mystery gifts into your game without having to turn your DS on. Where can I get Pokesav? Google "Pokesav URZ MOD" and download it from filefront or here, http://pokesav.org/main/download-pokesav Click the Urza mod one. Easier layout. the URZ MOD is the revamped Pokesav layout that doesn't require you to edit their stats directly (causes more room for error) What is the point of this tutorial? This tutorial is geared towards on how to make hacked Pokemon look more legit and harder to detect as a hack. If you have no idea what hidden value or secret ID is, then look no further. This covers that. OK, now that I have Pokesav, a flashcart, a rom of either Diamond or Pearl what do I do now? For flashcarts like the CycloDS, R4, and M3, they have a .sav file associated with the corresponding .nds file. If you don't have any of the above flashcarts, you may have to use an online save converter. http://www.shunyweb.info/index.php Pokesav uses the CycloDS, R4, M3 .sav format, not the other .sav formats. Copy this .sav file to your desktop or anywhere that is easily accessible. ALWAYS COPY and make sure to make periodic DATED backups of your save file. Shit does happen when you edit things that you aren't supposed to and could end up with an unusable save file. I put my backups in [name of file] (1), (2), (3)...(n), (n+1) My backups alone go up to 60 something now. Even for minor changes, whenever you insert your microSD into your computer, make a backup. Load up Pokesav and load your .sav file. Main Screen 1. Name: If you want, you can change your name. legally! Just remember that none of your Pokemon will obey you. 2. Rival: Change your Rival's name. 3. Money: Edit your money obviously. This guide isn't made for half of these easy fields... 4. SCORE: Pokemon likes to add points to your score for specific in-game things that you have done. Different guide. 5. Not like you get Excalibur II for beating it under a specific time, but you can edit your played hours. 6. Pokedex: Be sure to click all of them in order for you to get all of them in the pokedex. Clicking all, without the sinnoh dex might cause a problem. 7. Party: Only worthy mention is DO NOT EDIT these directly. This is the part that is crucial. If you edit these with EVs and IVs in the party, their stats will be all out of whack. If this happens, deposit them in a box in-game, and withdraw them to fix it. Always edit them in a box, not in the party. 8. # in Party: If you don't bother with the party, then don't bother with this. 9. Trainer ID: Your usual standard ID #. 10. Secret ID: This is a unique ID that is "secret." If you want to know what yours is, load up your save and you'll find it here. All of your Pokemon that you caught will have this number. 11. Avatar: Don't bother with this. It's not important, and nobody cares. 12. The 6 Boxes that aren't the main point to this tutorial...except Events. 13. Change the day and time that you started. 14. Finally, the main part of the tutorial! Storage Boxes! 15-18. You can mess with these on your own time. 19. Save type. Keep it 512. 20. Just a little side note, adding in Azure Flute or Oak's Letter will NOT get you Arceus or Shaymin! You must use the Mystery Gift function for that. Storage Boxes 1. Box #. Hit up or down to change between boxes. 2. The Pokemon: Blue means Male, Red means Female, Green means Neuter. Some Pokemon might have [][][][][][][][] as their name. Those are Japanese. Some might not have their name showing at all! That means that their name can't fit on Pokesav. Don't worry, there's nothing wrong with it. 3. Save/Load/Delete Box. Don't use these if you don't like knowing what Pokemon is what. They will just number the files from 1-20. Good luck finding ANYTHING if they're saved like that. Editing a Pokemon in a storage box! 1. Species. Simple enough. 2. If you give it a nickname, be sure to click the box too. For problematic Pokemon like CHARMANDER, the box will only fit CHARMAND. Click the nickname box, or hatch it from an egg first to get the fields already filled in for you. Or create a Charizard instead! 3. OT: Same as before. 4. Trainer and Secret ID, same explanation. Just make sure that your OT, OT gender, Trainer and Secret ID match along with the game version you are playing. If you select Pearl when it should be Diamond, the Pokemon are not originally yours. Remember that events are unique and are not tagged with your ID. 5. Level. This automatically adjusts the experience as well. 6. If you want a Pokemon to evolve at let's say 36, you can type in 36 for the level and then subtract one EXP point to get Level 35 with 1 EXP to go. 7. Friendship: 255 is the max. If you trade it, it obviously resets. 8. Attribute. Please look at Attribute (further down) to explain the menu. 9. Contests: Not particularly important unless you are making a legit looking Milotic. 10. Item & Ability: Changes the Held item. 9 times out of 10, it's a Leftovers. Using a site like Marriland or Serebii always tells you their specific abilities. Make sure you have the correct one and the desirable one that you want. 11. Movesets: You can change these to any moves that you want, but mind you, for a really good hack, you have to have possible movesets. Leave the PP at 0, and PP Ups at 3. You don't want to go over your cap, like 32 for Hyper Beam, which is 8. 12. Individual Values, or IVs. These range from 0-31. Having all 31 is not always the best choice since if you are using Hidden Power, you might not get the one that you want. (Hidden Power is explained very well on serebii's game mechanics page, even how to calculate it!) 13. Effort Values or EVs. These range from 0-255 per stat. For every 4 EVs, it raises 1 Stat. Do the math. 255/4 and 252/4 give you the same whole rounded integer. So use 252 as the max, not 255. EVs cannot exceed 510 total, so concentrate them into the stats that the Pokemon is strong with. In other words, don't give Gengar 252 Atk EVs. He is usually best with 252 SpAtk EVs, 252 Spd EVs, with the remaining 6 in HP. That remaining 6 is handy since it put its HP up a little bit. Mind you, HP is calculated differently than the other stats so every 4 EVs does NOT raise your HP up just by 1. 14. Pokerus. Always click Cured to make your Pokemon look more legit. Anyone who doesn't use pokerus while EV training is usually not the hardcore Pokemon battler, and will be questioned as to your credibility as a seasoned gamer, so clear up that confusion with just checking the box. 15. Date met. Make sure this is equal or earlier to the day than you hatch an egg, if you make it look hatched. 16. Make sure for hatched Pokemon ONLY, that you set their met level to 0. If you memorize the areas, 4 is Solaceon Town, 16 corresponds to Route 201 in the example. That menu drops down to a lot of areas. Just make it simple and put Solaceon Town for breeded Pokemon. 17. Fateful Encouter: This applies to D/P event Pokemon. 18. Hometown should be set to your corresponding game version. For bred Pokemon, make sure that they are in a Poke Ball, nothing else. 19. Egg Data: Make sure that the date is equal to or later than the date met. Make sure that they DayCareCouple is selected for anything other than the Riolu or Happiny that you get in-game. 20. Nobody really bothers manually hatching eggs so leave this be. Not sure what happens if you set it to 0. In math, dividing by 0 is a no no and I'm not sure if the game divides by zero in its calculations. 21. Marks, these are the same marks in the box options in-game. 22. Ribbons. look further down for Ribbons: 23. Condition. Mostly for making or evolving to a Milotic. Beauty stat MUST be 255 for it to evolve into a Milotic. Also, make sure that your Milotic has a compatible Nature for the poffins crap, (Modest usually is acceptable). 24. Hidden Values: Not much is discovered about this, but for anything that you catch out in the wild might have a specific hex, mainly pointing at the 85h section. For hatched Pokemon, 85h MUST be set to 00. 25. Miscellaneous options. You can change a Pokemon's form if you are editing that specific species. Attribute: 1. Nature. Be sure to give your Pokemon the right nature. Go to any Pokemon site that has these explained. 2. 1st Class or 2nd Class, Gender and Shiny. The class refers to the Ability, so for pokemon that can have more than one ability, set it to the corresponding one. For pokemon that only have one ability, either is fine, (or just leave it the way you found it). Always make sure that whatever you make shiny, you make feasible. Don't tag your legendaries shiny. That's highly unlikely, and a clear giveaway for a hacker. 3. Value: This kind of reminds me of a keygen so just hit create a bunch of times to get a number that you like. Nobody bothers to check for legits using the Value so this shouldn't be such a worry. Ribbons: Not really important, but just remember that 3rd gen ribbons are included on here so don't tag a 4th gen with a 3rd gen ribbon. Saving, Loading, and .PKM files! When you are completely satisfied with a created Pokemon, you can save it to your harddrive and you can name the file the name of the Pokemon along with whatever purpose it has. (like Roserade HP Fire.pkm) Loading them: You can now load them to your boxes just as easily. This is also an easy way to duplicate Pokemon since all you have to do is load it to a new slot in the box every time you want to duplicate it. Sort your .PKM files in some organized fashion. Don't put all of your .pkm files in one spot. Further categorize them into roles (or should I say Classes!) Put all of your Physical Sweepers in one box, all of your Special Sweepers in another, etc. You can further divide those categories into tiers. When you get over 400 files, it's hard to keep track of what's what. Reserved Section: Creating legit looking events. The best way to get a real looking event is to actually have one, but if you can't get the real thing, then creating a fake, but real looking one is the next best option. There's some information that you will need to create a legit looking event. 1. No nicknames. 2. the OT of the event. 3. The trainer's gender. 4. Trainer ID. 5. Secret ID. 6. They are never shiny. 7. Date met is usually the day of the event. 8. Level met. 9. Where it was met. 10. Hometown (you MUST have this right, especially for 3rd gen events. most of the time it's Ruby). 11. D/P events are in Cherish Balls, at least the ones handed out via Mystery Gift. 12. 85h MUST match the actual event. Now you'll know why when someone wants me to make them a fully hacked event team and I reply that I cannot simply do that without making them look unprofessional. It's because I don't know those 12 handy tidbits of information to make the event. Another reserved section: Screwing around with Custom Mystery Gift Events If you haven't noticed, this is my completely incomplete Pokesav .sav file that I only use to create and trade Pokemon with. Not much to really screw around with here that will be covered. A lot of it is self-explanatory anyway. The two random location Pokemon are obviously Mespirit and Cresselia. Give them status inducers just to abuse them before you catch them. This is what your game should look like when you first create a new game. If you don't want to complicate things, I suggest leaving this alone. Make note of what is checked and what isn't. It is possible to revert these back and redo these events. If you want the Azure Flute, create an event JUST like this one. Your cards MUST match. If you want another look at how to make these, you can download the manaphy egg event on the internet. Last Word: DON'T FORGET to Save after all of that is done! Remember to transfer it back to your flashcart and if you need to convert, do that too. DO NOT overwrite one of your archived backups because if you boot it up and you can't move or the screen is black, you just screwed yourself. Don't mess with your backups. I might add an FAQ if the need arises, but for now, this guide is complete.
Re: Tutorial: Using Pokesav without AR, just a flashcart. I have a tutorial in Tutorials section Have a look. Also, Urza's mod (guy on GBAtemp) uses a smaller window for Pokesav, as the regular Pokesav sometimes doesn't fit the screen.
Re: Tutorial: Using Pokesav without AR, just a flashcart. yours uses the older layout. i will check to see if you miss something that is the whole point of posting mine. if you cover the exact reason why i made the post, then you can feel free to delete it. found it, yours doesn't cover the specific way i create pokemon. (there is a method to my madness. just let me finish it and you'll see.) this one is mainly for creating pokemon, not so much editing items and stuff.
Re: Tutorial: Using Pokesav without AR, just a flashcart. Okay, once it has been expanded a bit more, I'll get it moved. Also, change the name of your topic title to the proper tutorial.
Thanks Jake Now I know what that attribute thing means... I wonder why pokesav doesn't have Rampage in the move sets, it's Rayquaza's best move...
its called Outrage. There's also Draco Meteor, which NO ONE uses. Rayquaza is best off with Dragon Pulse since it doesn't do anything negative.
I never knew you could fix stats with pressing max stats button... I did it manually wiht a calculator.
I knew you were creating extra work for yourself. I think you were editing their stats while in the party. The stats are completely dependent on the IVs and EVs that you give them so by editing them in a box, there is no need for a calculator.
