if it is an original R4 then it does not support cards larger than 2GB.

according to R4 they can handle from 128mb to 4 gb
see below question from web page
Q: How many files can I have on the R4?
    A: R4 Adapter supports 128MB~4GB TF(MicroSD) card , 4GB=32Gbit

there are two types of MicroSD, MicroSD and MicroSDHC. the former has been obsoleted by the latter. The former only goes up to 4GB, and it is virtually impossible to find 4GB ones, as they have been replaced by microSDHC cards, which the original R4 is not compatible with.

Ya, that claim by them is misleading, but it's not false advertising because it is technically true. 4GB SD exist, but if you buy a new 4GB card these days it's going to be SDHC.

I think they should remove it from their advertising, but the team doesn't exist anymore. I'm surprised the website even runs.

Don't be, some of the original team are apparent to be working with Hyper4.
