I want to give my sister my Pokemon SoulSilver, but I don't want to erase my save file. Is there a way to take the save file and put it in my R4?

Let me guess, the save file you want to transfer to the R4 is from an official cartridge?

Then its tricky; you'll need an R4i SaveDongle to extract the save file to your PC and then use it on the R4.
That would mean needing to buy the device, but its not widely sold. I have one, got it for free from the official maker during their promotion. But I don't know where you could get one online. Here's what the device looks like : http://forum.romulation.net/index.php?topic=57980.0

Another method I think possible is via WIFI, where you would need a WOOD Dumper program. However you might want to ask Jhon591 about how its done, cause I never tried the method since I haven't got any WIFI connection.

Yes, you can dump your save file through WIFI Router also; no internet needed.

Best to plugin LAN cable Direct between PC and Router .

Either using wooddumper R85 or NDS Backup Tool Wifi

Its just a matter of setting up your DS lite via router; best use an open connection ( not WEP or WPA in the settings).

(Caufull Note) You're PC Firewalls has to be disabled, Do not be on internet while it's of, and be sure to re enable Firewalls befor using internet.

You have to setup your DS for any Game that uses WIFI, Don't matter if its an original game or flashcard in use :)

    Here's the tutorial : http://gbatemp.net/topic/252623-tutorial-nds-backup-tool-wifi/

You can find your router IP code on back of the router, you use it in your address bar.

, need to use NDS Backup Tool Wifi and samllftpd

If you DS shows IP somethink like 192.168.1.3 then back it down by one in NDS_Backup_Tool_Wifi.ini 192.168.1.2 and save .ini file .

Port 21 is also fine to use

As a matter of fact you can even dump back up copies of the original game as a ROM !yay ;)
