I recently downloaded the Tomb Raider PSX IMG from this site. It works great for the opening cutscenes etc... but whenever I select Start Game or Lara's House all I get is an indefinite black screen. I've tried using ePSXe v1.60, ePSXe v1.70, and PSX 1.13. It does the same thing in every emulator. I can play Silent Hill and Final Fantasy VII perfectly, so it must be the Tomb Raider IMG that is defective. Is there any tweaks that I need to do in order to play this game or is it simply a damaged IMG? If it's defective then I think you should reimburse all my points because it's pointless to have a game that you can't play.

it is probably not the ISO, most likely it is your emulator configuration as configurations vary between games. please post a list of what plugins you are using and we will help you from there.

Thanks very much for your prompt reply! :)

Let's see, these are the plugins I'm using:

    ePSXe v1.60

    Video - Pete's D3D Driver 1.74.
Sound - ePSXe SPU core 1.5.2.
    CDrom - ePSXe CDR WNT/W2K core 1.5.2.

If you find you have any sound plugins, change your plugin to something like Eternal SPU, the default ePSXe plugins are usually shit. CDRom is fine though. Change some of your Video plugin settings.

For ePSXe, I changed my sound plugin to Eternal SPU Plugin 1.41 and my video plugin to Pete's DX6 D3D Driver 1.77.
PSX has the plugins and everything already built in. I have the latest version of that.

I tried playing Tomb Raider in both emulators and it's the same thing as before. Opening screens and movie plays great. Everything runs smoothly, looks and sounds good. All is well until I reach the options menu. I can adjust the screen, controls, and sound fine, but can't start the game or go to Lara's house. If I try to start a new game or go to Lara's house then I just get an infinite black screen.

If everything works fine until I try to start a new game or go to Lara's House then it must be something wrong with the IMG. Besides, every single other game I load plays wonderfully. Can someone please test the Tomb Raider IMG from this site so I'll know. I have no idea what to do here at this point. Thanks. ;)

I highly doubt its the image, if it was it wouldn't load at all most likely.

I just deleted the IMG that I downloaded from here and found the game in MDF and MDS format from another source. I then used MagicISO to mount the MDS file on a virtual drive. This worked like a charm. ;D

Sorry for the double post, but I just wanted to let you guys know that I also found a way to play the IMG that I downloaded from here as well. I finally figured out that I had to mount the CCD file using MagicISO. I feel like such an idiot. ::) At least I can play the game now and you guys can rest easy that the download is ok though. Lol! :D

On a side note, there are no save crystals in the areas where they are normally located. Any way this can be fixed? Otherwise, I can't save until I complete each level. ???

they might still be there, just not visible, in which case you'll need to fiddle with the graphics plugin settings (check the fixes section, and also use the 'nice' settings.). Additionally I don't recall any tomb raider game having save crystals. TRIII was supposed to but in the end it didnt.
