So if any of you guys are old enough to remember the good ol' days of the DreamCast can you help me? I was looking on PSO-world.com and I suddenly remebered that I have Phantasy Star Online an I'm stuck on Normal Mode in the Mines area.
My HUmar, Double J (human hunter) is stuck on Vol Opts (first form). I'm like level 30 and I still can beat him. And if I do get to the second form it instantly kills me with its retarded lazer. I hate it and I really want to finish the game so I can move on to hard mode or something like that. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

    :O
It was a hyperbole so chill. No one I know has a DreamCast or even a XBox anymore. :p

Correction it's been 10 years. The Dreamcast came out 9.9.99. i remember that was a great day in video game history. The Dreamcast easily had the best graphics at the time and Sega introducted on-line play with games like Worms Armageddon. So ps3 and x-box are built on the dreamcast foundation. Long Live Dreamcast.

I ditto what hightimes said but I feel as if we are getting off topic. I came here for help on the Phantasy Star Online Mines boss Vol Opts. If you had/have the game I really need some help on how to aviod his retarded lazer beam of death and all of his other stupid attacks. So please, can we get back on topic?

As for as I remember his first form is the most annoying. I would suggest to take a weapon that is able to hit many targets, such as sword or slicer (can't remember if you can find one at this stage), and focus the screens where the boss appear.
If you have a good range weapon, you can also focus the little thing in the air tha cast lightnings, and the screens when it falls.

The 2nd form is rather easy when you're used to it. Learn his attack pattern and you'll be able to beat it without being hit once.I suggect to destroy the side parts first, as one will heal it (can't remember which), then the back which launch missiles.
When it casts its red lazer, you have enough time to hit it twice (2 hits, you don't have time for a combo), then run around it to avoid the arms.
For the missiles you can simply run around until they self-destruct.
Its most dangerous attack his the green little bolt: you have to avoid it until it vanish, otherwise you'll be trapped and hit hard.
The boss will make a specific sound before casting it, so you'll know when to run. And it's easier to avoid it if you're not in front of him at this time, so keep attacking from the sides/back.

A good thing is to take a goof amount of antipara, sol atomizer and scape dolls. It might takes time, but it's the way i beat it back then.

FINALLY! Some good tips I see what you are saying but I must ask, what level and class were you when you fought him? Because at level 30 it's still a bit tough for me to get his attack pattern down and my mag hates me.

It's been a while, so I don't remember my level on my 1st playthrought. I think I was around 35-40, and my character was a RAmarl.

Ok thank you. I should get to crazy training now then. Where do you think I should train? The forest is too weak in my opinion.

Try to do some quests in caves (lost bride and waterfall tears are good ones) or mine. You can keep doing them if you don't go get the reward at the end. If you have episode 2, VR temple is also a good choice.

And also, don't forget to activate the 3 pillars in forest, cave and mine, otherwise you won't be able to open the door after Volt Opt that leads to ruins.

Awww man! I've already completed all the side quests up to that point! I guess I'll just do runs through the caves and mines till I get somewhere.
