timeout error when posting?

i get a message that say "your session timed out while posting. please try to re-submit your message" or some crap like that every time i post...so what's up with that? ???

i guet this too, it's strange, when I'm writing all the damn post this occur, you ain't the only one with that issue.

 

I am testing this message for testers to see if I get the same problem

 

I guess that short messegens don't happens, but when you're in a debate, sharing thoughs, which need tons of text, and also time, few minutes, this happens.

 

Do you know the technical reason for it?
Is it a bug? The code has some error that must be revised?

 

I don't think it's a bug. I brought it up to Seph quite some time ago. He said it's the way the forums work.

Probably has to do with security stuff with the accounts and just happens that the previous session times out while you were posting and before you refreshed a page.

I used to get this error when I still used IE (Internet Explorer), & also from lower versions of Firefox (from version 3.1 I think), but ever since 3.5 up to the current build of 3.6 this timeout error no longer occurs. I think it has something to do with cookies being reset or something like it.

 

I received it a few times the past few days. Using firefox 3.6.10
I don't think the browser will make it happen or not happen. I think it just has to do with when the site decides your session needs updating vs when you post.

One other factor I see based on my own experience with the issue is that I did experience it when I would type out a long post. This due to the fact that I type very slowly & sometimes as I submit a post that took me thirty minutes to type I would get said error. In those cases, before I submit a post I'd often copy the text first before I post just to make sure.

LOL, I just experienced the error just now, when I posted a reply on the Filipino thread, my post isn't even that long but still I got served by the infamous "Your session has timed out" error.

 

I'm getting the same errors Seph, I log in forever as well. It's TO'ing me, even when I respond within seconds.

I use IE8, Mozila Firefox 3.6.9 and google chrome, the latest one. I got this error in all 'em, either with cookies and internet historic and without it, when I cleaned, and yes, I'm logged to forever.

 

I've only had it happen when I was making a new topic. Even then, it only happened once and let me post it after I clicked it again.

I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts becoming more prevalent.

I've had this page open for a few minutes and it works just fine.

I wonder if it's a protocol error in general. As it is quite random in nature. I posted a response in about 2.5 seconds and got to'd, later I waited about nine minutes and posted fine.

If anyone gets the 'session expired' thing twice or more, just make a note of it. This did not start happening until about 6 days ago for me.

But it seems it might just be a 'phase' of the site. Once its hormones get acclimated, it will cease.

 

Logged in forever as well & as I said in my edit to my last post, I was stunned to have experienced it recently.

 

I only use quick reply, I don't need the ready-to-post tags, If I need I got then by heart.

It's funny but true, If I wait like 5 minutes, post fine, but sometimes is like 10~30 seconds to write a messege like that, and even so I get the error.
I guess despite the timeout, it may be not a timeout, maybe an error that reflect in that one.
