List something you hate about video games (an aspect of various games or series) i.e.

I hate lives. Were not in the arcade, were sitting on our couch at home playing Super Mario Galaxy, but every once in a while "GAME OVER!" and I have to go all the way back to the area I was in on the spaceship-thing. It becomes an extreme pain when your stuck on a level and keep dieing on a certain part. It is so ****ing annoying! Lives were for coin-based games! GET RID OF THEM!

Lives in a game, especially on platformers is not necessarily a bad thing. They're there to add a sense of urgency & caution to a player. If there were no more lives in a platformer you can just play carelessly & tread cliffs & hazzards as if they're un important challenges in the game. What is bad with lives though is if the games was too difficult & it only presents you with very little lives & the means to acquire new lives was also difficult, like getting 20,000 points or so before you get an extra one.

What I don't like in recent games though is the emphasis on graphics rather than on gameplay, alot of games these days just feel like movies themselves & that I don't appreciate.

that the finished project is no where near as good as the vision the developers had

Bugs. A lot of current games should never have been released in the state they were released in. This is because publishers rush to get them out without testing them properly (YES I'M LOOKING AT YOU, EA). The sole reason I haven't bought Crysis is because I refuse to pay for a game that requires 500MB of downloaded patches to make it playable. Of course a few odd bugs will get past no matter how much you test; but a game should NEVER be released with so many bugs it renders it unplayable. Even ONE game breaking bug should be enough to have the release delayed until it is fixed.

Because Ubisoft owns the publishing rights to the Diabolus trilogy (the one with Nikori & Zakos) when I finished it I was going to strike a contract up with EA for Lucifers trilogy.

Is that a bad choice ?

Bugs - Leaving a bug in a game which makes half your community unable to play for nearly a month (Battlefield 2) because the publishers want their slice is NOT acceptable.

Super realism taking over for the game play - Just because it looks friggin amazing DOES NOT mean you can pump in the recycled rubbish from the last ten years of gaming and expect gamers not to notice.

Promising something you THINK you can accomplish but not KNOW you can accomplish - Hell Gate London.

C**k blocking publishers - Publishers who buy up or beat down small companies or indie developers because their products are too close to something the publisher currently has in development or simply to make some mass-produced pulp. Al-a Ghost busters game (on the c**k blocking..not the pulp..apparently the up-coming game is quite good)

    Securom/Star force.

    And many, many other things.

Yeah, this one. And rushed development, due to publishers.

I'd say so. They're so concerned with money that they rush developers and the results are sub par.

i would have to agree with CRV. good graphics are nice but not as required as fun and immersive gameplay. a perfect example of this in my book would be comparing ninja gaiden ds vs its 360 counterpart. the ds version sucked me in and i beat it at least twice yet ng2 360 has been gathering dust since two hours after i first put it in my 360

I hate that the end boss are impossible to beat sometimes. Also, there are instances where the end game boss turns out to be a huge f***ing character. I also hate games with pointless storylines. :p

Solution: That is why there are cheats such as unlimited lives laugh out loud. =)

I hate how you can get stuck in a game. Why don't they just make it so that you can never be stuck in a game? =(

never being stuck kinda takes away the point of many games meant to make you think about your next moves

i HATE games that really don't offer any replay value, like once you end the game you watch the ending and stuff, then all you get is an 'accomplished' sticker by your file or something, and when you load it you're just back at where you last saved (so it's either exit the place and spam other things or keep owning the final boss) think Phoenix Wright games

    Over complications:
Prince of Persia (1st ones) and most racing games (Mario Kart! *Shakes fist) sometimes it gets over complicated and it loses it's fun and relaxed gameplay, for example: On Mario Kart there ends up being boulders hurled at you while you get slowed down on mud and the computer lobs things at you, the computer is always one step ahead because they don't make mistakes...

    Star Wars?

And I hate timed missions in games: It rushes you... I wanna do what I want and be prepared on games, not rush through it..
