well when i'm surfing at Howstuffworks.com i encounter a gaming console name The Phantom. Its a new console where you need to subscribe thier VPN call VPGN there you are allow to download demo\ rent and buy game from thier network. and it doesnt have either CD or DVD drive. All the downloaded game is save in their build-in Hard disk. well its a intresting concept, however the montly fee to thier VPN and additional fee for the game turn me down..... if you are intrested to read abotu it -> How the Phantom works
Does anyone know how old that article is? Did you even look at the specs? # AMD Athlon XP 2500+ central processing unit # nVidia GeForce FX 5700 Ultra graphics processing unit # NVIDIA nForce 2 Ultra 400 motherboard # 256 MB main memory # 40 Gigabyte hard drive That's supposed to run and store games? Yeah, maybe 5 years ago. EDIT: Quick Wiki search revealed it is in fact 6 years old... Oh, and it was cancelled. Phantom (game system) The company behind it is now focusing on the Phantom Lapboard, the wireless mouse and keyboard that was originally part of the Phantom.
so it was cancel..... too bad for them then, and i dont know this idea was 5 years ago.....since in the artical that i read didnt mention about the product been canceled. oh well, it was a nice concept though.
A little off topic but this reminds me of the Indrema. I was looking forward to that machine, it was rather promising for its time. Plus it looked really nice. It's a pity it never materialised. More vaporware unfortunately.
Heard about it in the year 2001, along with a Tiger electronics game console. Downloadable games? Ahead of their time, but still too late.
