if they start to port 360/ps3 games to wii such as with resident evil 5, then truly capcom has become nothing more then a niche company. it's too bad. if capcom truly wanted to make resident evil 5 for the wii, then they would have remake it specifically for the wii but not port it over. i'm tired of being forced to swallow your garbage. i have lost respect for them.

there are even game companies out there who specifically have said that you can't make games on a 360/ps3 and that game is considered a possible port for the wii. ea themselves have said that when you build a game for the wii it can't be made how you would with a 360/ps3 concept. truly, here is an example of a company still living in 2006-2007, and not in 2009.

I'm not sure if this is worth getting choked up over.

The major focus of video game companies is to make profit. If they feel like they can reach a wider demographic by porting over existing games to other systems than more power to them. It really doesn't have anything to do with us, if we don't like it we simply don't have to purchase that game. This isn't a practice exclusive to Capcom, every major video game company does this occasionally. If the downgrade in graphics is the issue, perhaps you shouldn't have purchased a Wii in the first place because it never promised high definition gaming.

I can't tell if you are for or against the Wii in your post, but my opinion of the Wii is that it sucks. The Wii is the equivalent of the ball and cup toy my grandparents used to play with when they were children.

Umm... resident evil 4 was also on the wii... and if I remember correctly the game/port/whatever your calling it, was more than adequate. With the game making full use of the wii-motes capabilities.

You're right in that the game looked good, although I think I'd still prefer a game like Resident Evil 4 with a regular controller (The Gamecube controller was the best in my opinion), otherwise it turns into Hogan's Alley with all the pointing and shooting.

We need to consider that the 360 and PS3 are next generation consoles and the Wii has roughly the same graphic capabilities as the Gamecube, and therein lies the major problem. The graphics on the 360 version of Resident Evil 5 are outrageously high def and couldn't even come close to being reproduced on the Wii. In that I think ultra has a point, it might just be better if they remade it specifically for the Wii instead of porting.

I honestly have no idea why I'm even replying on this thread because none of this is interesting to me. I'm bored I guess... go figure.

Perhaps those who grew up with Capcom may be offended for their 'mainstream' market.

it simply implies there is no passion for making games for the wii but rather the wii is a cash machine and is eventually treated as an afterthought by the company. what it means is that priority one isn't making a game for wii but start with 360/ps3 then simply port it over to wii. it means more effort here [360/ps3] and we'll decide what to do with you when we're done working hard for the other systems.

Gotcha. I can see how that would be more frustrating than usual considering the Wii is saturated with fitness games and the like.

In regards to growing up with Capcom, I'm 26 and started out with Mega Man II on the NES so I understand completely. I'm sure the main line of thinking with companies like Capcom is that the Wii demographic is a LOT different than that of PS3 and Xbox 360. While there are hardcore gamers with a Wii they aren't nearly as prevalent as those found on the latter systems. It's probably much safer and easier, both time and money-wise, to port a game they already know will be a success than to create a brand new one for only a handful of hardcore gamers on the Wii and watch it fail. Face it, most of the consumers that own a Wii want to play some crappy bowling simulation or something else that they can laugh to while swinging their arms around like idiots.

that's another problem. the people who own the wii aren't the current hardcore gamers that these companies and people keep labeling, the people who own the wii are the hardcore gamers of the past who suddenly went back to gaming due to the wii. these past gamers are the ones who are helping push the wii forward "by word of mouth".

people play games to experience the games world. just like watching a movie, regardless if it's for kids or not, people watch the movie to experience the movies world. so why should wii gamers be considered as an alternate being.

games being created on the 360/ps3 aren't games made for you, the consumer, because the developers didn't put their thoughts into what you wanted. i played burnout paradise and it is very disturbing that i'm not allowed to alter my controller buttons but are forced to play the game according to how the developers want me to play them. there is no consideration on the consumer but only what the developers want. it is disgusting because i'm paying them to make games for me but instead i'm paying them to make games on what they want not on what i want.

actually, you are not paying them to make the game for you, the publisher pay the developer to make game for them to sell it to you, the gamer.

but i get what you are trying to say, like you i wish the publisher and developer do some market research to make a game that we all want, not just make a lousy game, market it off and hope we take the bait.
