The single player campaign uses heavily modified Unreal 3 Engine.(in development by EALA)
The multiplayer uses Frostbite engine similar to Bad Company 2(in development by DICE)

It'll most likely appeal to a general audience but some will cast an opinion before they've even tried it.

How come? I think Activision lately have been really, really bad, on a moral stand point. They explicitly said (or Kotick did) that they take the fun out of games, and they drive franchises into the ground until they're dead. Look at Guitar Hero.

I can think of bad things that EA has done in the past but I don't recall a lot recently.

I refuse to use the term ______ killer. It's stupid, childish and it never pans out like planned.

To be fair nothing will 'kill' MW2, nothing has 'killed' Halo, nothing has killed anything. I also highly doubt that MoH will sell more than MW2, highly, highly, highly doubt it.

Hey, i never said i liked Activision either ;)

Plus the MoH series has never really been better than the Halo or COD games. And right now, everyone who likes FPS games is either playing MW2 or BC2, and by the time Medal of Honor is out, they'll be bored of shooters.

ive always enjoyed the medal of honor series on PSX, but I have to question the decision here; unreal 3 is a pretty old engine, so I think that will hold them back

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah. You're hilarious.

MoH has not done better than CoD or Halo because the best MoH games came out before both games. Then later they had bad sequels, Airbourne was decent but it wasn't that good. Cool idea though, I enjoyed it.

The thing with the Unreal engine that it's being constantly being upgraded by Epic (look at the newest version of it). Along with that it came be editted by the devs so they can make the game look good. Watching the trailers, it's looks good. And plus it's a heavily modified version of the Unreal Engine.

One thing I kinda question is the different engines between the multiplayer and single player. The Frostbite engine is a great engine that features destructibility and has great effects but it looks nothing near like the Unreal engine. That and the Frostbite engine changes gameplay considerably, play Battlefield BC2, it plays a lot differently than many shooters because of it's environment. I can see why they chose to use a different engine for multiplayer (considering that most Unreal multiplayer games feature a silly amount of bullet lag) but it'll look and play considerably different.

hell ya. unreal engines make the best shooters. rainbox 6, unreal tournament, dark void, turok, gears of war. unreal makes the best.

So because i said Mw2 killer therefore i'm automatically stupid?(just want a confirmation).
Honestly,EA themselves said that "we are going to take back what was once ours".

EA said it when they announced Star Wars :The Old republic.
Then, they said again when they tell the world about the new Moh.
    Since when EA dominate MMO?
    Since when EA dominate FPS?
As for SW:TOR,i doubt it will kill WoW.I mean people(at least asian don't like to wait for dialogues)Plus we all know Blizzard is making Next-Gen MMO...(MW MMO a possibility).
For MoH,well if there is no MW 3 over the next few years, yes it will steal MW fanbase.
All are just my assumptions though.Keep that in mind.

Those who hate EA and slam them all the time should at least appreciate their effort to challenge AB.EA made a lot of mediocre games,so did AB(the Activision part only),so did Ubisoft,so did Nintendo,so did SEGA,so did Capcom,so did Square Enix. And all of them will make bad games in the future as well.

However, all those publisher publish something great everynow and then.

Did they say MW2 killer? Eh no. If you weren't aware MoH was the king of WWII shooters in the past, it was over taken by Call Of Duty later. A few half assed MoH games later, they finally decide to step it up. Also don't forget the Battlefield franchise that toyed around in WWII, Vietnam, and modern conflict. Battlefield had a large hold too.

The only people that call their games a _____ killer are fans, media, and the Killzone developers.Yes they want to try and surpass MW2, but they don't want to kill it. MW2 probably influenced a lot of devs to work their hardest to compete against it to gain it's helm.

Just because you want to take helm of a genre doesn't mean that they want to completely destroy the competition.

    YAY STEREOTYPES.

There's going to be a CoD game every year, I'm sure that people would realise this. In fact Activision got another studio to make more CoD games, so now they have three devs that make CoD games. Expect a Call Of Duty game in November. No joke, I'm serious. Eventually, CoD will die out due to saturation of both CoD games and modern shooters. The former faster than the later.

I am aware of it.But that's WWII shooter, not Modern day shooter.
Battlefield has not popularized modern day FPS to the magnitude that MW did.Even if they came first.
Stereotypes,so you think it will kill WoW?It might be popular but it wont kill WoW.Even if it's better in someways.
You have never seen Asian gamers, aren't you? They play multiplayer games online and all they care is kill, loot, etc. They don't like to wait.Plus,Bioware games has never been successful in Asia.Asian gamers mostly care about 'who is the winner, who kill the most'.They don't really care about story.(except Japan, but Japan love their own games).
That's why EA's target is 2 million subscribers.

Who cares if Moh kills MW?Halo Reach is coming..perhaps to reclaim the FPS crown.

halo never had the FPS crown. Nor has any halo game come anywhere near to the crown.

modern warfare 1 was great because it went outside of world war 1 and world war 2. with many games already resembling that of modern warfare 1 and moder warfare 2, the magic of the game will start to disappear. you can simply look at rock band and guitar hero, where the first time it was released it offered a new entertainment for users. but by having more and more of the product being replicated over and over, it becomes saturated because the concept is repeated over and over becoming a niche.

it wasn't the graphics btw! so electronic arts can put all sorts of fancy graphical engines that are from the future like 40years from now, it won't do much because it was the concept of modern war instead of world war 1 and world war 2. when call of duty 5 was said to be in world war 2, many people weren't that excited for it because there has been so many world war 1 and world war 2 base fps that has been done so much that people were tired of it.

this is why music games like rock band and guitar hero didn't do so well and are slowing down because people got tired of them due to the constant exposure which leads to it's uniqueness.

so the question, will it kill modern warfare, it will because it'll be bigger and more then what modern warfare offered and there is still some room for a last big grab before the collapse.

CoD was a WWII shooter at one point too, MoH came out before it and had the helm of WWII shooter, until CoD came out.

I'm aware of that, are you aware that no game has been as popularized as MW2? It was the best selling form of entertainment, that is so god damned huge.

Dude, I was pointing out that you're stereotyping. Again. I didn't mean anything other than that you were saying that asians don't like dialogue trees.

Indeed, something I can agree on. Halo games have been good at best, if not mediocre. I enjoy the single player and the multiplayer for Reach looks fun but I never have and I doubt I ever will consider Halo as my favorite FPS game.

I'd say that people weren't too excited for CoD:WaW because it was developed by Treyarch, not Infinity Ward.

I don't think it'll beat MW2 in terms of sales numbers and penetration to the more casual gaming market. In terms of quality of the gameplay, who knows, there's nothing about MoH besides trailers so there's no indication.

the problem with that picture and the name is that it's the symbol of the game. many people may affiliate the product due to the product constantly being part of world war 1 and world war 2. when was the last time a medal of honor game was not a world war 1 or world war 2 game? it was never.

so electronic arts will either need a new name or have some sort of an undertitle to say that it is no longer a world war 1 or world war 2 shooter game. if you look at the picture of call of duty 4, it not only has a picture of a soldier with modernity of today but the word modern warfare, which is highligthed and is directly and clearly marked as saying, a game that is based on modern war technology and such.

close your eyes and say the titles of medal of honor based on it's previous iterations as they were all world war 1 and world war 2 games, you'd more then likely know what to expect. but say the title of call of duty 4 modern warfare, you'd definitely know that it isnt' world war 1 nor world war 2 but something modern due to the words modern as part of the title.

"Games are nothing more than mere products! You examine popular market trends, churn out nearly-identical titles, and then you rake in the dough! Imitate our competitor's top sellers, that's the golden rule! Throw away your emotions and become a mindless machine, that's how you make games!"
    - Segagaga (Dreamcast, 2001)
