KyoAni is definitely going too far with Endless Eight; the novelised edition dispensed with the story in one iteration. Furthermore, I hear Endless Eight will be sold on regular DVDs at regular prices. The worst thing, though, is that KyoAni probably won't be able to fit the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya arc into this season anymore...

it's this that made Haruhi so entertaining for me
but 6 episodes is alot, and they'll probably have to do 7

Meh, had you read the novels and experienced the awesome that is Disappearance, you'd probably be singing a different tune...

The main storyline in the first season was 6 episodes, too. I just think they're wasting some golden opportunities to give the fans what they want here.

 

I don't really like reading, but reading mangas is fine, so if it's out on manga, I'll take a quick look, but I prefer to wait

I dunno if the manga covers that much, but I hear it's terrible anyway. But hey, the novels are known as light novels, and they have pictures too! It's well worth it, IMO.

I really don't think they can fit in Disappearance. This rebroadcast is in chronological order, and a lot happens between now and then. The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya, which is chronologically after Endless Eight, is a novel-length arc, as is Disappearance.

And Kyon's real name hasn't been revealed in the novels, either.

I don't think the author has any intent of divulging (or coming up with) Kyon's real name. It's easier to just consider this as a character quirk or something.

 

Just watch the anime.
