I didn't. I'm fed up of 2012 topics and even ones started in jest further propagate the myth as truth.

the mayans were not 'wrong'; they never said 2012 was the end of the world. That is a modern invention. All that happens in 2012 is the mayan calendar rolls over just like the gregorian calendar does every year.

    Aren't we all.

Look people, we are just gonna die anyway, we could die NOW!

So who cares if the world ends, I'd be happy, BECAUSE WE'D ALL DIE TOGETHER :D

Why is the world always ending?
It's ending in 1999, it's ending in 2000, it's ending in 2012, it's ending in Final Fantasy, it's ending in Pokemon, it's ending in every single self-respecting RPG.

We need to stop this deadline shit.

One thing I'm wondering about the Last date of the Mayan calendar (13.0.0.0.0) is that it kinda contradicts the civilization's fascination with the number 13. If they value the number 13 so much, wouldn't the date for the last day in their calendar be 13.13.13.13.13?

    There is no 13th month...

Actually, in the Mayan Civilization & others similar to it in antiquity, a year is defined by 12 30 day months & a 5 day 13th month, which is kinda considered as holy or special feast days.

And if I recall correctly the Mayan long count doesn't follow the Gregorian 12 month, 100 years century & 1,000 year millennium system.

    EDIT:

Also, if I recall correctly, there was an episode of Star Trek Voyager where the civilization on a planet the crew of the Voyager visited & saved from total annihilation used time pieces following a similar fashion.

Of course the world isn't going to end in 2012! Pshsah!

It's obviously going to end when the timer on this (http://www.darkdaysarecoming.com/) page runs out!
