You know, I don't doubt Jesus was alive. I don't believe he's the son of god, but he was indeed a prophet. Looking at people today like Joyce Meyer and others that preach the word of god really get me to thinking: what would Jesus do? I remember a story about how Jesus's follwers collected money from people to support their journey, and Jesus wouldn't have any of it. He threw all the gold in a river or gave it back to the people or something like that, my point is he didn't accept it. Nowadays so called "believers" are making millions and millions of dollars off Chritianity. I asked some Christians about this and most of them say "oh, well, you need to make a living somehow" but that is complete horse shit. If they where true Christians I'd think they'd be giving every bit of that money to someone who needs it and preach on the streets in rags! Maybe that would bring them closer to their god. But no, instead they drive fancy ass cars and live in big ass houses for their own well being. The way I see it, that's completely against everything Jesus was about. So maybe those people should reconsider using their religion to profit on personal gains and start putting those sandals on...
....and while they are at it burn that damn book (my opinion of course). Jesus related his message through speech and action not with the written word. I would imagine he did that for a very good reason. I think he kind of liked the idea of living spirituality and not dead dogma. "Learn to walk through words", Antero Ali.
jesus's words are lost i don't believe Jesus was the son of god or any crap like that but i do think he may of been a real person but weather he is or isn't the original message is lost. i hate the people that make money off of peoples stupidity. people give money thinking they are doing good but they are just lining the pocket of the person preaching and its sick. how can you preach a message about being good when there is nothing but pure evil in your words. i don't know if any of you are youtubers but there is guy recently caught for doing this you can look it up he's called Venomfangx he is a very well know creationist that posts videos that are retarded and gets owned constantly by anyone with intelligence. he had already been criticized for abusing things like wrongly attacking atheist channels by making copyright claims against them leading to one of the channel holders taking legal action against and and leading to his forced apology on youtube. recently though he has been caught conning people, getting subscribers to give him money to become a full time preacher of the gospel but have been caught being fraudulent. i could post what exactly he did but just search his name in youtube and you can see for yourself
I heard a lecture back then, and somebody asked this founder of a christian worship/religion here in our country, i think the man that was being asked was the founder of Iglesia ni Kristo- Church of Christ, but i'm not sure. A friend asked him what is the best business that you can start with little capital, but will profit big time. He answered, start a religion, your only capital is the Bible and good people skill. in no time, you will be very rich and a lot of people with start to follow you in whatever you say. Religion is supposed to be about faith and belief in the higher being, but because of abuses and intellectual rise, its beginning to be doubtful and useless.
I recently came arcross this book called 30 minutes in hell or something like that, it's pretty much about some fool who says he woke up at around three in the morning and ended up in hell. He says Jesus told him to experience it and to tell the people about it. So what does he do? He writes a fucking novel! Go figure
One of the oldest priesthood sects in Christianity (Catholicism to be exact) were the Jesuits, they did at one time preach in ragged robes & did not partake of money from people. If followers did donate money it was used for community service or upkeep of the church.
Actually they are one of the youngest of the Christian sects, not established until 1540. The Benedictines were the ealiest Catholic order, first monastery was established in 529CE. As far as I can gather the earliest non-gnostic Christian sect where the Nazarenes, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazarene_(sect) Earliest reference to them was 370CE, but they must have been established well before this date. Also the evidence is strong that the only religious groups that accepted the teachings of Jesus around the time of his life were all Gnostic sects, and Gnostic Christianity is possibly the first manifestation of Christian religion. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esoteric_Christianity Although many of the oral traditions of Christian Gnosticism were not written down until 400-500CE, it is thought that the tradition was formalised as Christian around 80CE but existed before the birth of Jesus, so we can chart a definite influence of Jesus teachings through these groups. Perhaps people are not looking for them in the right place. Maybe Cristianity was supposed to be Gnostic? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gnostic_Gospels http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gnosticism_and_the_New_Testament
well if the recently found and translated gospel of Judas would suggest that the other disciples never actually knew the true teachings of Jesus, and that Jesus asked Judas to hand him in and to not let the others know (effectively making himself a martyr and thus remembered). and in the bible we only have four gospels, there were more along with other scriptures that did portray Jesus in a very different way. the whole miracle shit destroys his teachings, if you take away the magic and listen to what he did and said its very different.
Well, if you want to scare the money out of people, do it with eternal burning. That sure scares me, but not to the point that I'll pay for something I don't believe. I believe in Christ, but I don't believe in Christians (I don't have any faith in them). Christianity, like many things, has been skewed and destroyed so all that is left is something much stronger than words of kindness: Greed and fear.
