http://kotaku.com/5568531/end-of-story-for-tails-studio If anyone knows me, they likely know I'm a complete whore for Tales of games so this is pretty sad news for me.
What a fucking shame, the company that barely ever brings it's games out of japan is doing horrible. Fuck Tales studio, Fuck Bamco. They barely bring out any tales games to the US and now they want me to feel sorry for them?
I certainly won't argue with you on that point. I'm still kinda miffed about PS3 Vesperia not making it over.
It's why I'm glad I have a 360 and a PS3. Plus, the PS3 Vesperia additions were gimmicky and just aimed to get lolicons to purchase the game they already owned.
I was primarily interested in the extra dungeons and being able to use Flynn via normal means instead of editing him into my party. =/ I also wanted that Asch costume for Yuri...
I'm a big fan of the RPG genre, yet I've never had the opportunity to play any of them and in fact hardly heard of them until a couple of years ago. That reeks of bad advertising.
There was no advertising basically. NamcoBandai has never done a big push for marketing for the Tales Of games, ever. Especially in the US, the US never gets the Tales Of games anyways. I haven't played Vespiria, but I've played Phantasia on the SNES, awesome game. Great story line. Harsh, especially since the studio has little to do with localising the game, it's NamcoBandai's decision to.
Hopefully Tales of Graces will still get a release. I figured I'd start from there, maybe play some Symphonia. It's a shame, basically any RPG that isn't made by SquareEnix gets remarkably little coverage. I adore Tri-Ace but barely anyone I know irl has heard of Star Ocean or Valkyrie profile, both amazing game series.
Oh fucking well, either or company, doesn't really matter to me. I hate Bamco for the fact that they don't release tales games here, There is quite a few that never came here, and most likely never will. They are mad or something that tales doesn't bring in tons of cash, yet they never ******* advertise them. Hell, other companies like Atlus and Xseed have fucking wanted to grab the tales license or whatever off of bamco, but they had none of it, they don't do shit with it, and yet they don't want other people doing anything with it either.
I find it hilarious that a company is complaining about poor sales when they intentionally exclude two of the largest game markets in the industry. They brought it upon themselves.
